  1. I'm curious as to how long he is outside when you take him out just before you leave. Wondering if a long walk 45 mins - 1 hr. on a leash would be opportunity to 'let it all go' while outside while also being enough exercise to encourage him to nap while you're gone. Just a though and good luck.
  2. Awww... she was only trying it on....as some type of headwear It.....almost looks like one of those WWI army helmets! or.... a night-cap *the actual cap, not the drink:
  3. Thank you for sharing Foxy's story and following up.
  4. The above absolutely mirrors my experience with Stanley. Only difference is we give a generous dollop of actual greek yogurt instead of the kefir as a bit of dessert after a meal. Whether or not it helps...he LOVES it.
  5. He looks innocent to me. Story checks out.
  6. donkey from behind.... an a$$'es a$$????
  7. Most important thing is that his bum is facing the fire to keep it warm.
  8. I don't believe my grey's harness meets your 2nd criterion, but the proprietress of a small Etsy business we got Stanley's harness from makes her harnesses by hand, to order--and has many different styles available. Delivery of our order took a while to reach us (in the USA), but as she operates out of Poland it might reach the UK much faster. We've been fortunate that Stanley has not shown abnormal aggression towards other dogs, so we are a different situation than you. However he does play hard and pulls when he sees a cat. Maybe it's worth a look for you! Best of luck. www.etsy.com/shop/SowinkaDesign Sowinka Design Sighthound Harnesses from Poland
  9. I remember your username (and I'd been away for quite a while myself.
  10. This has been my Stanley's normal, as well. When we first adopted him ~6 months ago, all his poops were runny. Now, as is the case in MerseyGrey's experience--his first poop on a walk is the chef's kiss (well....better descriptor than that is needed ) then it goes from there to pudding poo, to puddle, to squatting wet farts (I wish I was joking about that) with subsequent poops on the same walk. I'm willing to bet that if I teleported him home immediately after his first poop of each walk then he'd have a 'perfect record', but I think the added exercise in a longer walk (avg of 45 mins) is worth the scientific experiments Stanley subsequently conducts regarding the different phases of matter. My preparation method is different (not saying 'better' by ANY stretch, just sharing my procedure). I take a one-cup pyrex measuring cup, fill it with tap water and heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then I put one rounded tbsp of the Olewo carrots in and let it steep during the walk (I do this for both morning and afternoon). Been mostly skipping the addition of oil, but I do use it on occasion (just a drop). Return from walk and the carrots are dissolved. Pour the contents of the measuring cup over his kibble. He devours happily. I'm in full agreement that no grey is the same, every one should adjust their own proportions and method accordingly. In my case I've even rotated in the addition other Olewo products (the beets, 'Rootsies', and even pumpkin power from a different manufacturer altogether. ) Meaning that he gets the carrots every time, with another spoon of one of the others. Haven't noticed any major differences either way by adding the second foot topper, but I believe it's a positive thing overall from a variety standpoint--Stanley has shown no signs of being bored with his Grandma Mae's kibble, and that might be because we change up what we add to it. Best of luck!
  11. We are in that same boat. Lots of rabbits and coyotes in our neighborhood, so we get some roadkill and predator-kill on our walks. Sometimes it's very dark; other times obscured by leaves /etc. But more than once Stanley grabbed dead-body-parts and swallowed them instantly. Gross, and somewhat scary.
  12. I only noticed brief blips when accessing over the weekend. I'd get an error message, then try again in a few seconds and it'd work. On another note, it is good to hear that greys have representation in Scottish Parliament. Haggis, bagpipes and kilts all around.
  13. Handsome Hound you go there. My grey from 20 yrs ago was also from Ireland, and she also had what I believe to be an unusual coat...white with very faint ticking marks (we called them 'tea stains' bc it looked like someone spilled tea or coffee on her). The texture of her coat was different as well. And she was a fantastic dog as well. thanks for sharing the photos!
  14. another greyt endorsement. Thanks for the info!
  15. I recently heard of HunnyBoots for the first time, in an unrelated thread. They look amazing. So far, my Stanley is surviving his first snowstorm with us (and ensuing cold snap) without needing boots (not sure how he's doing this) but we are still considering getting him outfitted in these fantastic looking boots. They look like they fit and function very well.
  16. Another probably-not-useful suggestion from me, likely out of the You'veAlreadyThoughOfThis department: while thinking about environmental factors that are different between your home and your parents' place, maybe consider the lighting? Sometimes lights can emit sound frequencies out of the range of human hearing but in a range that would disturb canines. Just a thought, but if you had LED lighting and your parents did not (or vice versa) maybe that's worth looking into. Either way I hope Nugget resolves this! and soon!
  17. I will check them out! As I'm in the northern hemisphere (in a snowstorm as we speak) I wonder how my Stanley would do with those in the snow. Thanks!
  18. I've never owned a grey that young so I can't contribute much other than noticing his choice of footwear is outstanding! What are those boots? They look very smartly designed.
