  1. AnnIE. She is right on trend with the "unexpected red."
  2. Maybe not necessary, but definitely worth it! The support is helpful even if the exact information is available elsewhere (and it's nice that it's somewhat consolidated here). If it's a PITA for you, I'd be happy to start the new thread and check the links, etc.
  3. I'm so sorry for your sudden loss. Max lived a wonderful long life with you, but it is never enough time. It sounds like he had as perfect a last day as anyone could wish for. I hope your good memories of him will sustain you in the days ahead. Rest well, handsome boy.
  4. The staple theory makes sense. Neither of my girls had staples so I can't weigh in on that specifically, but they were definitely more comfortable when the sutures came out.
  5. Doolin and Willa agree, PBBs are the bestest ever! Enjoy, Nate!
  6. Four more sleeps, Amelia, and then you can chase whatever you want!
  7. Aww, I know that's hard to watch. She's still figuring so much out about this new body. Before long, she'll be doing a cute little rollover maneuver to get herself up from the "wrong" side. Willa faceplanted this morning on our walk. It's bound to happen sometimes, but my heart still leaps into my throat when it does. I think she overdid the zoomies in the yard before we went, and she was just tired and stumbled, but of course there's no spare leg to catch herself. She recovered quicker than I did, as per usual with these dogs...
  8. That's the face of a girl who regrets nothing!
  9. Woohoo! Do you know when she's starting chemo, or waiting to see at her recheck?
  10. Thank you! So helpful with their nudges, eh? I am getting them too, even though I can't even vote for her!
  11. You're the best! Thank you. ETA: I added a few billion photos today.
  12. Get used to it! My husband makes me walk Willa because she's so fast it wears him out. It's easier for tripods to go at a good clip, so you'll definitely get a workout in walking her. Go, Amelia, go! Once you get those stitches out, you're home freeeee.
  13. She's a beauty and I can see why you fell for her (that photo is adorable!). Welcome home, Freshy, and congrats to everyone!
  14. He's gorgeous! And 14 is wonderful—definitely worth celebrating!
  15. Congrats! What's your boy's name? This behavior is very common; you'll find lots of threads here if you search "statuing" or "freezing". I think the first couple of weeks they're in such shock they just cooperate on autopilot. Now he's absorbing more of his new reality and trying to make sense of it. Go very slow and don't force long walks. Try 5 minutes at first and build up from there. If he seems to like car rides, sometimes taking him to a new spot can help. I also found with Doolin (my freezer) that nudging him gently with my knees from behind works better than pulling him—they understand pushing from racing, but pulling not so much. When he freezes, you can also try walking him around in a tight circle to get him going again. Time, patience, and positive reinforcement will do the trick. He's probably feeling overwhelmed, even by what seems quiet and benign to you. Lots of new smells and sights around, and he's not quite sure what's expected of him yet. You'll both get there! People here like to say 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months are all milestones in their acclimation to life as a pet. It definitely took a few months with Doolin, and even now after a year and a half, he'll stop on walks sometimes if we try a new route or he sees something up ahead he's unsure of. They're such delightful little weirdos!
  16. It's not easy even when it's going as smoothly as it can. Hang in there.
  17. Trazodone or Tramadol? Either way, yeah, that can definitely make her feel off. Sweep didn't do well with gabapentin and Willa had bouts of panting that I suspect were also related to meds. No worries; you'll find the cocktail that works for her. Progress isn't always linear, but you guys are doing great by any measure!
  18. Phew! The ear is back. Still waiting for the leg.
  19. She lost a leg AND an ear. Plusalso, I posted this on the osteo thread but wanted to share here too. Last weekend, we met up with some local greyhound owners who found us on Instagram. They lost one boy to osteo last year, but they still have 5-year-old and 13.5-year-old (!) boys. Their dad took this video. Willa showed all those boys—including her brother—what's what.
  20. Mind? We'd be bugging you for them if you weren't posting them! We are all thrilled for you that everything's going so smoothly. And I bet you are feeling glad that you went ahead with the amp despite some (totally understandable) initial uncertainty.
  21. We have these for the siblings (total overkill for them) and I love the twist-open carabiner, reflective stripes, and padded (non-adjustable) handle. There are some negative reviews about the handle stitching, but we have not experienced any issues. My only complaint is that it's 5 feet, not 6.
  22. Aww, I remember Cole; he was adopted from our (now defunct) GPA group. Sounds like he lived a good, long life. Rest well, handsome boy.
  23. Aw, bad timing for your husband getting sick. Hope he feels better soon. But: Go, Amelia, go!
