  1. Puddle of bloody looking liquid poo on the kitchen floor when I came home from lunch. Vet doesn't want me to drop him off and run back to work, so we're still waiting till after. He's officially feeling funky now. (I had a dog with HGE when I was a teenager. Horrible. This isn't that) I was out sick yesterday and should've taken him in. He seemed like he was getting better. My poor, poor baby.
  2. Coconut water is a great idea! I may be able to grab some at lunch.
  3. Appointment is at 5:30. Vet said to try chicken and rice, ice cubes, Gatorade. BTDT. Poor Joe. I gotta say, he's such a good boy. Woke me up every single time last night. I bet he tries to hold it until I come home for lunch, too. Puppy pads are going down in the kitchen, though.
  4. Thanks. No idea what did this. He had a Rimadyl Monday morning (with food), but that's never bothered him before.
  5. Is it more important to get fluids in, any fluids, or rest the tummy? Joe has had diarrhea since Tuesday night. Every hour or two, but four times since 6:30 this morning (four times in the last hour). He has no interest in water, Gatorade or plain broth. He desperately wants the pizza I'm eating for breakfast! I make a turkey and rice slurry last night, which he loved. It made the diarrhea worse. Skin bounces back when pinched, gums look ok. He's feeling not real good, though. So, do I just let him be, or give him more of his mush, watered down further? We can't do a trip to the vet during the day today, but will tonight if this doesn't stop.
  6. Does he crate? Can you stuff him in his crate after morning pee while you shower and dress, then do the poop walk after?
  7. I saw this and thought it would be an Uggs vs. Bearpaws debate. Soooo disappointed! I'm useless for doggie boots. We own 1 Therapaw and those stretchy Pawz. It's Joisey.
  8. I'm so sorry. My Joe is a Flying Penske boy.
  9. Better treats, and lots of them. What are you using? Lunchmeat tends to work. It's fine in small quantities, even with the sodium content. Cheese or bacon are also good. They don't understand the difference between a slice of bacon and a little nibble, so you can make it stretch. At some point, teaching him "up" and "off" is a good idea, and pretty easy with a stinky, irresistible lore. (Says the person whose own hound dug in and REFUSED to get off the bed last week. I had to resort to a leash and manhandling -- but he's been here 4 years, and I was *mostly* sure he wasn't gonna eat me over it!) Edited to add: When I don't want them on the bed, I cover it completely in junk. The hamper, cardboard boxes, hangers -- just a ton of crap. Martha Stewart does NOT live here!
  10. Xanax, Tramadol, and baby gates. If you can go to McDonalds, pick up burgers, and drive to a park for a looooooong picnic, it might help some of the crazies. Drinking wine is also useful!
  11. My MO is to throw the dog in the car, rush to the vet, and post on GT and email everyone i know while in the waiting room. That way, the whole world knows I'm cracked!
  12. If it helps at all, Brees suddenly came up lame and in tremendous pain a couple months ago. Nothing serious on the x-ray, so the prescription was drugs and rest. Of course, in the time it took to get the x-rays read, I had already planned the amputation/chemo in my twisted little mind. They *do* just get hurt sometimes.
  13. Cover it in peanut butter and hold it for her to lick? Not the same, but Brees randomly went "off" her crate for a couple weeks this summer. She's also a little timid. Not exactly spooky, but gets freaked by strange things. Our dogs are weird!
  14. Wonderful news! (and so cute about him dragging the nure)
  15. That's so cute! Brees collects shoes and stuffies, but thankfully not computers -- AND she keeps it all in the living room doggie bed.
  16. Damn it. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.
  17. Thanks. He screams his head off when I try to check it out, and wants to chew a hole in his foot. I sent him to la la land with a Tramadol.
  18. Joe has a burr in his foot, and won't let me try to get it out. The appointment is at 11. Any reason NOT to use these folks?
  19. I'm so sorry for you loss. She was such a lovely girl!
  20. Where do you live? Any storms or freaky weather coming? Are you diabetic or do you have other health issues? Does he just want a cookie or ice cream?
