  1. I forwarded that to a friend with a corn dog. It has to be worth a try.
  2. It sounds normal. She's confined and Abby isn't. She's freaked out.
  3. Joe isn't eating well, either. It's normal for him at this time of year.
  4. I put them in the freezer and forgot them! Maybe they'll get them on the 4th!
  5. I have two who don't really like each other. It's ok. They play together sometimes and give each other space the rest of the time. Growling and snarking is daily. Neither lays teeth on the other. Ever. They communicate very well with one another, and we've learned to be ok with it. That said, they were muzzled for a month when the second came home, and a lot of the time after that. No muzzles two years later. It can be crappy at first and still work out.
  6. You know what I think. I hope you also know I'm happy to help out with whatever when #2 comes home. (Seriously. I can couch surf for a few days if it'll make you feel better -- but you won't need it!)
  7. I saw the word "final" and almost threw up. You can't do that here!
  8. It's tiny. Just watch it. If you're really concerned, outline it with a sharpie and watch for more swelling. (if it were my dog, I'd probably pop it and clean it. You haven't had her very long! So doing ouchie things is probably not a good idea yet.)
  9. Oh, pretty! Joe liked to snack on the baseboards whe he first came home. He got over it, and now I think the tooth marks are kinda cute. Pretty twisty, I know!
  10. She'd probably eat it! River sounds like a trip.
  11. Extra comforter for the crate for when he barfs on the first one! (When I'm doing blankies in a crate, I like a bath mat on the bottom to give them more secure footing.) A stuffy or two. A kong and peanut butter. Some first aid & medical stuff. (Peroxide, betadine, non stick pads, styptic powder, vet wrap, tape, scissors, triple antibiotic, Pepcid, Gas-X, ice pack.) A bottle of wine or a six-pack of beer!
  12. Probably not. Don't worry about it. Have some stinky cheese handy to lure your new dog in. Congratulations! If you've been lurking, then you know the rules. We expect a ton of pics when your new baby moves in!
  13. Neat!! More pics of your adventures, please!
  14. Always listen to Batmom! We got Joe in August (four years ago), and I tried training pretty quickly. No dice. Thanksgiving came, and he was a giant PITA at dinner. Time to try again. 5 minutes to "down." Another 5 to "sit." No problem. Now, he sits, shakes, downs, bows, crawls, etc., anytime he wants something we have, and we give it to him. So, it took Joe about about 3 months to train US to be good pets! Brees is a different story. It's been about three years, and she very reliably looks pretty. I don't take training very seriously. They have good leash manners, don't swipe food off my plate, and are fine with people. When we take them out for dinner, they settle on the blankie and go to sleep until we start handing out nibbles.
  15. Yup! It's the GFNJ walk. (All hound families are welcome. Mine are NGAP dogs). We start at ten in the summer. It's hot! There's a small stream and a nice lake to cool the dogs in. You're 100% right to wait to take Leo on long walks. His feeties may need to toughen up.
  16. Breathe. Someone who knows about this will post soon. They'll tell you to get in touch with Dr. Couto. Do that. Spoil Bodhi. And breathe.
  17. On the lawn. Raw meat on the carpet is yucky!
  18. If you freeze it, and feed frozen, you're pretty safe. I wouldn't suck my thumb after handing them a turkey neck, but I'd probably scratch my nose. Where in Jersey are you? We have a Sunday walk in Hamilton if you're anywhere nearby.
  19. Snort. I'll give a poo analysis in a few days! We're a sick, sick bunch.
  20. Jen, in decent weather they get bony raw snacks a couple times a weeks. Chicken makes them runny, beef keeps things normal, and turkey makes the poo chalky. They don't get a lot of pork, except a pig ear sometimes. I do think they've had freezer burned chops. If you think pig feet are basically ok, I'm good with that!
  21. Eh. If I freeze them for a couple days, maybe the bacteria will die? Cindy, a little juicy poo doesn't worry me. Not looking for major blowouts, though. Both dogs are pretty ok eating random crap, and raw usually sits well.
