  1. Wow! It sure didn't take him long to master his roaching balance without that 4th appendage. Way to go Taylor!!!
  2. Well, your post got me to thinking. Desi has sinking hiney syndrome as well. And his gait is very stiff, too. I prayed for winter to end as he was slipping on the ice so badly. However, the warmer it's gotten, the worse his hiney-sink. This has been the first really warm weekend here, and once it's over 70F Desi is begging for a/c. He's always been very heat intolerant. As in, he pants if it's over 50. Over 60, he pants like a freight train. Over 70, it's like he thinks he's in a frying pan. This afternoon, we went for a quickie pee walk, and he didn't even make it a block before he was sinking, we headed back to the house, & I was afraid we weren't going to make it. Now that he's cooled off, his sinkage is much better. I don't know why the warm weather would affect his weak rear, so your post made me wonder if it was the stress of being too hot. And stress is stress is stress....... just my own wandering thoughts.
  3. Now all you need is some DairyQueen......pies, icecream, Taylor, Face......life couldn't get much better!
  4. Lovely girl! Congrats & welcome!
  5. So good to hear Taylor is home & all systems are functioning normally. Now all you boys get a good rest tonight. I'll bet it feels greyt to have the whole family together.
  6. Wow! He's a real looker! Congrats & welcome!
  7. Such a handsome lad. Happy Trails, Alfie, and my condolences to all those who loved you.
  8. Seamie just needed his camp counselor Miss Jan to bring out his personality. Gone from this world.......but never ever forgotten.
  9. When Desi started having trouble getting into "our" bed, I took the frame apart and just put the box spring & mattress on the floor. When even that is too high, I guess I'll just chuck the box spring & have the mattress only on the floor. Not an ideal look, but whatever......nobody else visits my bedroom anyway.
  10. YEA TAYLOR!!!!!! I'm so glad to hear (finally) that everything went well. Hugs, kisses, and cookies for your big, brave, strong boy.
  11. Prayers for Taylor to have a successful sx, and strength for you to make it through without a nervous breakdown. Anxiously awaiting update.
  12. No matter how much they leak, dribble, stumble, etc, seniors are the bestest. Desi is 12.5. My monthly budget revolves around his medications, supplements, and special yummies. Our walks revolve around how he is feeling & how far I think he can go, safely. When he spoons up against my back in bed at night & heaves that big sigh of contentment, I feel like a queen. Wouldn't trade my old man for a herd of 2 year olds. We send best wishes to Keeva........feel better soon, sweetie.
  13. Oh my....what a handsome lad!!! Congratulations
  14. Happy Trails, Betty Joan......watch over your daddyman, he's missing you like crazy.
  15. What an amazing hound you are Hester!!!!! If that were Desi, he'd wait on me to catch up then tell me to go first......
  16. Welcome from another Ohioan. Your Poe is quite the looker!
  17. Welcome!!!! It would be nearly impossible for me to not rub that adorable spotted tummy every time I saw it.....
  18. Just wanted to add sympathy and say that I am dealing with the same issue in a 12 year old. For now, he's on nsaid, Gabapentin, joint supplement, fish oil. Some days he does well and walks for several blocks......other days, we barely get a block away from the house and he starts to sink and drag his rear feet and I wonder how I'm going to get him home. I've taken to carrying a sling on our walks, for "just in case." His vet has an aversion to doing the depo injections for some reason, perhaps to save it as the last resort. I was interested in hearing about walking gentle hills to build muscle mass, but this is central Ohio, flat as a pancake. He does walk a ramp into the back of my suv twice a day, I guess that's better than nothing. My best wishes to all of our elder houndies who are dealing with this issue.
  19. What a beauty. I'm so sorry it was her time. She'll be waiting for you.... in all her glory.
  20. We'll be scared with you! Praying nothing serious.......will be thinking of you & Bernie.
  21. Happy Trails, pretty girl. My condolences to those who are missing you.
  22. This sucks.....I'm so sorry. I'm sure she knows how much she's loved & cherished.
