  1. More prayers & good thoughts coming for Oscar...
  2. Desi had an issue a couple of years ago.....if it doesn't clear up with the Epsom salts soak, or if you notice it happening with other toes (Des had at least one toe on each foot affected), pm me, I'll let you know how we finally got it resolved.
  3. Wow......not only wonderful that you now have an answer, but that you met a specialist that took the time to sit down & talk/explain. Wish I could find a human doctor like that!
  4. Yea Marco! Frosty Paws Party!!!!! (as soon as you're up for it)

Life is not fair, and then sometimes it just kicks your butt. This is one of those times. I'm so sorry you've lost that special boy, but so glad you had the last year together.
  7. Best wishes for Mazy. All the ducks in a beautiful row....except for the mention of wonderful treats for this evening......for all of you.
  8. I've got an panter, as well. He's very heat intolerant and anything over 60 deg, he's panting. I keep the a/c on full blast most of the time and unless he's flat out on his bed under the ceiling fan, he's panting. I keep the bedroom nearly frigid so he doesn't pant all night. It freaks me out sometimes & he's been vet-checked every 3 months for the past few years. Bloodwork always good, heart strong, lungs clear......I've finally just tried to accept the fact that he is what he is. I just keep him as cool as possible & summertime walkabouts are really short.
  9. I'm so sorry Peace had to leave you. I just know that those last 5 years were the bestest ever...
  10. Desi raced at 81# and I've tried to keep him really close to that, or even a bit below, since he has arthritis and has lost muscle mass over the years. When he hit 84, I told him it was diet time. Cut his meals from 2cups to 1-1/2, kicked away his yummy treats, and used the extra kibble for little snack at lunchtime. Put him on the scale yesterday.....he's gained one....up to 85. So what do I know? I'm still debating on how to proceed from here.
  11. Very handsome lad your Logan...........welcome from central Ohio!
  12. No advice, just hoping the best for Optimus. I had to google ischemic event, and from what I read, it doesn't sound hopeless at all. Many dogs recover with only slight weakness. One of the causes is a clot elsewhere that travels to the brain. Which I found very interesting, because in the spring of 2012, Desi had a bout with blood clots, although his did not go to the brain, they were in muscle masses. The last one was pretty scary, he couldn't use one rear leg at all, just drug it like a stick of wood. ICU at OSU put him on aspirin therapy (1/2 of a low- dose aspirin) daily, and he's recovered completely and has not had another episode. But if it's a brain tumor, then that's a whole new ballgame. Don't panic yet, just breathe & thank doG he's doing well right now. We'll panic later if need be.
  13. George of NooEngland will live forever in our hearts as well as yours........I'm so sorry.
  14. When my angel Skeeter starting failing last year, he had stomach/bowel problems and loss of appetite. We put him on Budesonide (a type of steroid that as it was explained to me, targets the gut) and Vit. B12 shots. He started out with one injection a month, and as the year went on, we went to every 2 weeks, and for the last few months of his life, he got those B12 shots weekly. They gave him a whole 16 months of good quality life before I had to let him go. His doctor said she thought the B12 shots were "voodoo", but couldn't argue that they certainly made him feel better, and he ate well. In Skeeter's case, I could tell when the B12 was wearing off, just by his attitude and appetite.
  15. Our soft-serve poo issues finally cleared up with the Iams green bag & a VetriScience mega probiotic every single day.
  16. I've been known to use 3 different products in 3 different months (they were freebies from company reps). Haven't ever heard any reason not to.
  17. Welcome from another Ohioan (?)....... This member is fairly technically challenged...it took me months to figure out how to post a photo. I'm sure you'll do better; can't wait to see Carl.
  18. Yea or nay? I'm finding many conflicting opinions. Some swear it works wonders, other say not so much. Desi's been on a generic carprofen for years, and it's just not cutting it anymore. I do add Tramadol now & again, but am reluctant to use it consistently, would rather save the big gun for worse times in the future. He's also taken Dasuquin for years, and just in the past few months, I've kicked that back up to the "loading" dose. Any thoughts/experiences with Traumeel very much appreciated. Kathy PS: How many tabs/day do you give? I'm getting a lot of different opinions on that, as well.

What a stunner she was in her prime. Your photos were lovely, and brought me to tears. I just lost my SkeeterBug (17 yo) a few weeks ago, and this brings it all back so fresh. We loved them with all our hearts and gave them the best life any dog could wish for. And when it was time, we allowed them to go in our arms, knowing how loved they are, and that they will never be forgotten.....ever. Skeeter's harness & leash are still hanging by the door.......his snart is still on the back glass of my suv. Every night, that spot by my right shoulder where he snuggled is cold & lonely. We'll stop crying, eventually, but we'll never forget how blessed we were to have had them in our lives for so long. Thinking of you........
