  1. Two weeks ago with Lady, I had to keep thinking that it was much better a day too early than a day too late. And that is the way it all ended. Best to you and your hound.
  2. I live in Georgia and we give heart worm meds year round.
  3. I would go with with what Dr. Couto wants. My vet did two sets of rads and I also had an MRI done. Saw no problems. Dr. Couto saw problems. He consulted me within 2 hours and he was out of the county on a speaking tour. I am a member and he consulted for 1/2 price. I hope it all turns out good for your hound.
  4. I have had three Greyhounds and all three cost me a lot of money over the years. DaVid has had two back surgeries and he has corns hulled weekly. He also has IBD which we are trying to get under control. Lady had three back surgeries and just died from bone cancer. Huck had IBD that was uncontrollable and he died from bone cancer. I have Trupanion dog insurance on them and that has helped. But, still all of the MRIs and X-rays, surgeries, bloodwork, and everything else that goes into these dogs is overwhelming…I am not saying ALL Greyhounds are like this, but I am saying ALL of mine were a nightmare on the medical things.
  5. They covered both of my Greyhounds for cold laser. It is an add on with the regular policy…just a few dollars more a month.
  6. Had her put down this morning. Bone cancer again.
  7. I have 2 Greyhounds and 2 Galgos. For one thing, it is a zoo around here. The Greyhounds are much more laid back than the Galgos. The Galgos want to share everything..beds, food, toys, but the Greyhounds do not at all. Galgos can play wide open for hours-Greyhounds are wide open for about 15 seconds. Galgos are always on the hunt for squirrels, rabbits, birds..Greyhounds not so much anymore. Galgos are always in a good mood-not so much for Greyhounds..I love all of them, but I have absolutely no social life as they all take up all of my time..Just saying..Old lady (70) with 4 bigs dogs is a joke!
  8. See if a basket muzzle will fit on the lab. If it does, that would be a quick fix and then the owner could start working on slowly introducing her dog to others.
  9. I uses the Seresto large dog collar on all 4 of mine. Good for 8 months. I have used Nexgard with good results, but with the collar I do not have to remember anything. I don't uses..I use. LOL
  10. My Heartguard Plus says it controls Hooks.
  11. I am so sorry. I just consulted with Dr. Couto a few days ago and he confirmed the MRI. He was out of the country, but still e-mailed me and looked at the x-rays and MRI that day. Great man. I have oped to keep her comfortable and watch her closely. We are not doing any more tests, i.e. lungs or stomach.
  12. Lady has bone cancer. The cancer doctor will want to bring in the big guns. She is 11 and has had corns in both front feet for years. Her eyes are failing and I believe this cancer has been coming on for months.

  14. Is there anyone with Greyhounds in Conn. that can give this woman a hand? Sounds like it is going to take longer than a few days for him to start coming around. Could someone stay with him in the daytime and maybe by gently (and quietly) talking to him and stroking him maybe get him to trust more? It could be that you got off on the wrong foot with him and it will take him longer than usual to come around.
  15. I don't know exactly where to start, but need to just leave him alone and let him come to you (whenever that is). He is afraid of everything right now. Hopefully some of the much more knowledgeable people in here can explain things to you before something bad happens and you send the dog back to the group.
  16. I agree that the ID is crap food, but at one time it was the only one I found that worked for DaVid.
  17. I buy my dog's food from Chewy.com They deliver right to my door with no tax or shipping charge. My dogs eat a limited ingredient kibble. I wish I could afford raw.
  18. Tracy, that is exactly what I wanted to say. Thanks for saying it because it is the absolute best for the dog.
