  1. I would never trust my two off the leash unless they were in an enclosed area. I think it could be a disaster just waiting to happen. And I am adding a Galgo to the mix, so I would not even try off leash. Just my humble opinion.
  2. Why don't you check out Alldaychemist.com or Canadianpharmacy.com Alldaychemist.com has been in business for years. Many COPD patients buy their drugs from them. There is a $25.00 shipping fee and that is for unlimited medicines.
  3. My vet started out sedating both of my dogs for hulling, but had a change of heart and tried it with no sedating. It worked just fine, though I have to give my big male Tramadol 2 hours before taking him in. That seems to just take the edge off of his nerves. It should be interesting to see if the Galgo will have corns.
  4. Welcome! I have a male and female. Both of them are very bonded to me. I am in the process of adopting a Galgo or Podenco from SHUG.
  5. The vet put my hound on B12 shots, one a week for 6 weeks and then 1 a month for the rest of his life. It helps with absorbing the vitamins in the food. I wish now I had tried raw feeding with him.
  6. It is very painful. We could not control the pain (and I was taking him to a speciality vet place in Charleston). He limped and limped. I asked the vet to come to my house. I am so sorry for you and your hound.
  7. I have a hound that is allergic to Chicken, Turkey and beef. Just saying….
  8. I mix a little water in the kibble. I mix mine with 1/2 raw (no bones) I change around the protein so allergies don't have a chance of starting. Try putting little bits of canned fish, potted meat, tuna, cottage cheese. Be careful on what you are not supposed to give them and I know you can find that list on the computer. I always rinse canned vegetables because of the salt content. I buy nothing that was made in China. Raw turkey necks may be something you can give them a couple of times a week instead of regular kibble. That is yard food!!! LOL
  9. He has only been in your home for 11 days. Everything is new. How about someone sending locket the write up about new hounds? Back off and let him have time to figure everything out.
  10. I tried pulling out all of the grass and replacing it with small stones..they felt OK to my feet, but not to dogs…so, replaced stones with pine straw. They love the straw, but it has to be replaced every couple of months and that can get pricey..anyway, the back yard is just a mess and I have resigned myself to just live with it. LOL
  11. Maybe Hank needs to find another home. He needs one that is willing to work with him and change "their rules" to make a great home for him. Sorry, but I think you already had your pet, the cat.
  12. Dog is very new in your home. He has never been alone in his life. I think someone shared info about this in another thread. I would sleep downstairs with him until he learned to climb the stairs. It will not take him long. Put the cat in the bathroom with the door closed. When I first got a hound, I thought he needed to sleep in his crate and I would not have it in my room because I thought it was ugly. He cried most of the night. Moved the crate to my room. A couple of days later I put up a baby gate and left crate door open. That worked for me. He has had the run of the house for years with no problems. Good luck.
  13. I believe that Greyhounds have mostly been around other Greyhounds and may not be friendly to other breeds. He is brand-new in your house so I would just give him time (lots of it). Let him come to you and do not try to pet him on his head..just a little ear scratching may be all that he needs now. It could be that his last owner could not spend much time with him because of being ill..I would not discourage growling as it is their way of showing displeasure. If you stop him from growling the next thing could be a snap. Just make sure he has a very soft place to lay and that it is also quite. He will come around at his own pace. Does anyone on FB have that story about being "a new greyhound in a home?" Maybe it could be posted here for ms3569.
  14. If the other dog (large or small) is not on a leash, I personally would not care if my hound hurt or killed it. Just my opinion.
  15. Does anyone know of a grey/galgo/podenco savy vet around Boone, NC?
  16. I don't have carpet at all. When both of my hounds came down with corns, I bought cheap scatter rugs and have them all over the house and down the ramp outside. Maybe your friend has some of those.
  17. Honest Kitchen has dehydrated fish. That is all that is in it..fish. I also second John's suggestion.
  18. My Vet said all of Lady's blood work came back fine. Then she said one figure was a little high, but that could be because of a lot of exercise. I told her we walked an hour or so a day. Anyone know what she is talking about? I will have to call her office tomorrow and ask someone.
  19. I am taking Lady and DaVid in tomorrow for corn hulling. While I am there I would like to have blood work done on her. It is time for her yearly physical, though my Vet checks her out every time she is there. What kind of blood work should I ask her to do? She is 9 1/2 years old. Thanks
  20. I really wish you and your Grey the best so please do not take this badly. But, I have been told bone cancer is very, very painful. I put Huck down 3 days after the x-rays.
  21. I would give Handicapped.com a try on the harness. These are the people my Vet recommends. I would think you can give them the measurements and they could make you a custom harness.
