  1. Was just posting the same thing. make sure to check the paws for a cut, corn, sprained toe, etc.
  2. The main hazard will be if it comes back up and blocks his windpipe. I would call your vet for further instructions. He may want you to give bread but I wouldn't do it without checking. Here's the MSDS sheet on 3M Painters Tape. If it was a different brand, Google the brand name and MSDS. You should find the sheet that will advise of ingestion side effects. http://www.c2f.com/msds/MMM-PaintersTape.pdf
  3. Maybe try some clicker training. Lots of good info on it if you search the site for that term. Good luck!
  4. Bag balm? Just a thought. It seems to work for lots of similar things.
  5. This has been discussed a little bit already in this thread. http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php/topic/305245-mason-has-a-dental-and-possible-tooth-extraction-tomorrow/
  6. Rocket said that Mason still needs extra ice cream.
  7. Good luck Mason! milk it for all it's worth afterward (lots of ice cream).
  8. Run pain free, Mork. You will be missed by many.
  9. We have had similar issues with Rocket. Our vet diagnosed it as stress colitis, since every time it happens he is boarded or there is some triggering event that we know of. We have just started Tylan and are seeing good results after only a week. Metronidazole has been the go to drug for us for a long time, but just wasn't doing anything this last time. My usual recipe for him when this happens is very mushy over-cooked rice (6 or 7 cups of water to 2 cups of rice) mixed with Evanger's Organic Canned Chicken. It is very easy on his tummy and after a short time of a week or so I can start working him back on to kibble. I also feed 4 times a day instead of two when using this so ;I'm not just shoving food through him. His stomach seems to handle 4 times better than 2, on soft food or on kibble. I will also usually make a huge batch of scrambled eggs and mix this in a couple of the meals each day as well. I prefer the Evanger's organic canned chicken instead of cooking chicken for him. it is very finely ground, easy to digest, and contains only organic chicken and a little bit of organic Guar Gum as a stabilizer. It does not have all of the chemicals and preservatives that the canned ID food has, and on a per can basis is about 1/3 to 1/2 less in price. . The ZD is pretty much junk. Rocket refused to eat it the time that we tried it. As far as kibble, we had good results with Precise Sensicare Lamb Meal and Rice which is made for sensitive stomachs. I only changed because we couldn't seem to feed him enough of it, He was always hungry. I switched to Precise Senior and he has done well on it, although we are continuing to monitor him this time as he goes back on it to see if it may be time for another food change. So far, the Tylan seems to be doing the trick.
  10. Just to elaborate a little more: This news report is from November. It is not new, but I don't recall seeing it at that time.. There is very little in the way of new info since the original story came out other than an FDA statement saying the deaths are not related to Trifexis, but are coincidental. There is a huge disconnect between the numbers on the official reports (31 vs 700) based on whether or not the complaint was filed via letter or online. I have always felt that something is a little bit "off" with Rocket on the days he gets Trifexis, but attributed it to stomach upset and figured that the Trifexis was just doing what it is supposed to. I actually asked the vet about changing at one time, but our vet seemed to think it was the best option at the time. While it may be,Ii don't feel it's worth taking the chance given that I think we are seeing some type of side effect on the days we give it.
  11. Thanks for posting this. Now to figure out what else to use.
  12. Look a couple posts above. Someone referenced a company called Perfectly Raw which drops off at several points in the state you are in.
  13. Agree with everything said above. Other dogs will interpret her normal greyhound play as aggression, and it can get ugly in the blink of an eye. You might want to ask your group if there is a greyhound playgroup that meets in your area. Normally, all greyhounds are muzzled at the playgroup and it's much safer for all. You will most likely not be able to break up a dog fight at a dog park without being injured yourself. It's unfortunate that dog parks can bet a really bad place for greyhounds. Your hound has already exhibited the signs that playing with other breeds may not end well. It's great that you picked up on those signals, and don't assume that she's doing anything wrong. There's lots of nipping and growling in normal greyhound play, which is why the playgroups muzzle everyone, and quickly correct and/or remove any hound that gets too snarky.
