  1. II even read about a way to time release a second kong. freezer it into a block of ice skating it takes time to melt.
  2. Not a chance! No cooked bones! There are a bunch of lawsuits since these bones are not safe. Get a fresh raw knuckle bone
  3. I'm in the. Dogs are meat eaters camp and you migh be sllightly crazy. Although I feed raw prey model so others think I'm slightly crazy! Lol I would just worry about them getting the correct nutrients and mmake sure your getting your info from non HSUS sources. I am very leary of any info they publish... just closely monitor your pups to make sure they stay heathy
  4. I keep a squirt bottle of water in the fridge and will spray off Rainy's belly/neck/behind ear area when we come back inside and she very agreeably lays in front of a fan that I point towards her. If she doesn't stop panting within 10-15 mins or seems to be a bit more excessive than normal I pick her up and put her in the tub for some cold water dousing. Be CAREFUL this heat is scary!
  5. I'm not sure there should be that much pain from an adjustment! If he's hurting I say PAIN MEDS to the rescue! I was thinking of trying to get Sunshine adjusted since I think she's out in her shoulders. Has no pain, just never has moved quite right. I've been putting it off though since I know she will not relax enough for the chiro to get a good adjustment.
  6. we use the k9 slick n shine too. Never will go back to using anything else!
  7. Slap a belly band on him inside and make him wait until his set times? It easier with the boys. LOL Rainy used to try and mark a little bit here ant there on her walks, but since we moved to the new Apt, both dogs have been super duper pottiers. Not sure what changed expect that the stress level peaked at home.
  8. Sunshine was a .08 and we treated her because she had symptoms. Not because of her values
  9. I made that mistake once with Sunshine! Took 3 people to get her into the back. It was such a horrible experience for her. We have since then switched vets and I always ask to come back with her. I just explain that she had a really bad experience at a previous vet, and it took 3 people to muscle her back there. It's much more pleasant to just have her follow me back. For our last blood pull they just did it in the room after I explained. They even warned me that she might yelp when the needle went in, but I knew she would be fine. She is a needle champ. Rainy on the other hand is better behaved without me there sometimes. Since I now have a vet who has her own grey I feel comfy letting her take Rainy back without any worries. Sucks that you always have to second guess the vets and staff...
  10. how is his eyesight? If this is a new behavior maybe you should get a thyroid panel done?
  11. Maybe a squirt bottle might help while your in a coughing fit? Hard to verbally correct while your coughing or sneezing.
  12. Rainy only gets gunky when I giver her a RMB. I just keep a washcloth and some peroxide in the kitchen to wipe her down really quick. I only have to wash her face since she licks her legs clean
  13. So far I've had Sunshine tested every 6 months. But we found a super cheap vet so a T4 test only costs $70
  14. what's the dosage for dogs on the cosequin MSM? I need to buy more joint stuff since we are running out of glucosamine...
  15. Train a cat :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl I'm dying over here! Honestly keep his nails trimmed and let them work it out. Sounds like there's no fear of the dogs eating him. :rotfl
  16. I would fast him for 24 hrs, if it continues after that maybe off to the vet? I'm sure someone who actually knows something will chime in. Luckily I've never delt with throw up. I'm almost an expert with D though. I hope his belly feels better
  17. If he's not worrying at it I would keep it super clean and let the air hit it. When Rainy sliced her pad in half we wrapped it and kept cleaning it, etc. Took 3 weeks to heal. Sunshine takes her own bandages off and has moderately licked at her pad injuries and they seem to heal in half the time. Sometimes they just know what to do. :-) just rush to the vet if it gets hot and infected. And I would be PISSED if I picked my dog up with that injury and they didn't even try to bandage it. And for walks put a booting on if he's not limping. Otherwise no walkies! Only potty trips and some big bones to chew for energy release.
  18. I'm hesitant to put any chemicals or odd things in my dogs 'just to make the yard look nicer' but I guess some people do since there are many types of this for sale.
  19. We use http://www.animal-insight.co.uk/JACKIE_WEAVER/Introduction.html and it's done over the phone
  20. Yes and it worked instantly :-) everyone else thinks we are nuts.
  21. Sunshine coughs after every drink. I think she just tries to guzzle too fast. Can't miss anything ya know. When we first brought her home she would bolt her food. I feed her on the ground and since we feed raw she has learned to stop and chew/chomp a few times before swallering. I don't stress about the water since she's not actually throwing up. No clue what to do about the water, but they sell bowls for the kibble. Cheapest ones I've seen are here http://www2.pulsetv.com/LARGE-Slow-Em-Down-Pet-Bowl/productinfo/5259/ I wonder if it would work with water since it's all broken up?
  22. Interesting.... Well keep me updated on what shows up in the monthly poop check! I'm very intrigued.
  23. No more petting him on his bed until he has settled in for 6 months+ Just call him over to you for petting and treats. Remember these guys aren't messed with while they lay down and it can stress them out. He might be ok with you, but your son might make him a bit nervous. Kids are scary to some dogs. Talk to your adoption group and behaviorist. You'll be fine if you work on it asap.
  24. Really??? I use it as a preventative thing and honestly I would be REALLY freaked if I actually saw worms coming out... but it's nice to know it actually works since I haven't been able to find any medical studies to back it up. If it works so well I wonder if there is a danger of it removing the worms too quickly... Why are your dogs so wormy? Just curious since I've never delt with them before
