  1. okay so here is a list that I made per everyone's suggestions Thermometer Vet wrap *bought at http://www.countrysupply.com for 99 cents a roll Kerlix gauze roll Adaptic non adhering dressing Benadine scrub Syringe Gauze pads ** All above I found cheap at http://www.allegromedical.com/index.html Peroxide Squirt bottle Cotton Balls Q-tips Sanitary pads Gloves Tiny Flashlight Hand sanitizer Kid socks for paw injuries Water bottle Small bag of pup treats Extra lead Strip of cloth for emergency muzzle Poop bags Triple antibiotic Emergency survival blanket Ace bandage Scissors Instant cold pack Benadryl Medical tape Eye wash phew! Now just to cram all of this into a teeny tiny tool box. One for the house and one for the car. Thanks for all the help!
  2. Thanks I just decided on VPI 10 minutes ago. lol Off to research this new company.
  3. didn't even think of that! What's a safe dosage?
  4. what is GEM? I just bought a bunch of stuff last night on a online medical supply site. I think the rest of my kit can be gotten at the $ store. peroxide, water, etc. I plan to get 2 little tool boxes at Big Lots, one for the car and one for the house.
  5. Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm still waffling about the idea, we do have $ in the bank for emergencies, but probably wouldn't be able to afford an unexpected 10-15k surgery! decisions decisions....
  6. What should my canine first aid kit have? I was thinking some nolvasan scrub, waterproof butterfly type bandages for ears and such, vet wrap, gauze, etc. I just came back from Petsmart, they are completely useless. I spend 30 minutes looking at all the bottles in the dog section, finally asked someone and the only thing they had was a 1/3 of a roll of vetwrap priced at $3.99. I can get a whole roll for $1.99 at a tack shop. I guess I'll be ordering products from online and paying shipping. I just want to make sure I have everything to cover minor injuries that don't require vet care.
  7. if you were using vetwrap, it's really easy to wrap too tight. Hope everything turns out well.
  8. No way! LOL I talked to you on the phone. Planning on driving down to the farm on 10/4 to see if we can find a compatible pup. We are both so excited, we can hardly wait. Poor cats have no clue they will soon have to share their 'space' I was given this forum address by the same friend who suggest I look into getting a greyhound. She mainly just reads, can't post here because her email address isn't accepted. I had to use my work email. This place seems to be a wealth of info. You guys may be sorry you requested pictures. I tend to be a little picture crazy
  9. I never imagined I would find someone from the very same adoption program! I guess this forum is bigger than I thought, or it's just a small world. Everyone there has been so nice so far. I've have never done anything with an adoption agency before. Previously our pets have always been strays that have wandered into our lives at the right moment. I was worried because I've always heard horror stories about how rescues make you jump through hoops, etc. Everyone has been so helpful and down to earth. I'm currently waiting for a call from the mysterious 'Dog Matcher' but several people have mentioned that the new dogs are coming in on Saturday. I'm not sure if I can make it down there on Saturday AM since I live 3hrs and 30 mins away. I'm trying to get a friend to pick up stuff at a Church for me at 10am, so I don't have to be in town. Do you know if all the dogs usually get adopted right away?
  10. *waving* right back at ya! Thanks. Your pups are so cute!
  11. Thanks! I hope we can find the right one this weekend too! The waiting is killing us. LOL Thanks. Beautiful Sig. Arizona! I am jealous of your weather. Thanks for the warm welcome
  12. Is VPI the best choice out there? They seem pricey. Honesty insurance confuses me! lol It takes a large effort to sit down and search through all the details of every company
  13. My husband and I just got our application approved with http://www.greytexpectations.org/ And are waiting for them to get a new batch of pups in this Saturday. Hopefully we will be able to find our perfect match! We are located in Wilmington DE. Anyone else nearby? Greyhounds are a new breed to us so we are learning lots.
  14. I'm looking to adopt my first greyhound (just got our app approved) and am wondering about pet insurance. Does anyone have it? If so how does it work? How much does it cost? is it worth it? Thanks for any information!
