  1. Jackie Weaver http://www.animal-insight.co.uk/JACKIE_WEAVER/Introduction.html Since the time difference we usually chat with her Saturday mornings. She is well aware of Rainy and Sunshine so you can drop our names. Not sure she has many greyhound clients, so we are unique. Sunshine would have been bounced if it wasn't for Jackie. Darn unpotty-trainable brat!
  2. We use Jackie Weaver from over in the UK, and with the exchange rate she charges $55, plus a few dollars cost of the call on my cell phone. Plus she will talk to you as long as you need. There is no time limit. Worth every penny of it for Miss Sunshine!
  3. we live in an Apt and could not block the litter box off any other way.... so we bought a litter robot. We LOVE IT. Although it would be much easier/cheaper to try and move the box elsewhere.
  4. I agree with the no bones food thing! There were many times i stormed though our apt picking up every little edible toy while cursing up a storm. Always after belting out the VOG! Lol now after i m/onths we have bones back out again and the gils do steal from each other, but it a playful thing that happens after someone walks away from a bone. Muzzle, supervise, stop any bullying! For what its worth Sunshine never had any food bone agression towards humans and Rainy was so sure that i would back her up that she usually laid there and rolled her eyes at the growling puppy. so nice to have a calm established dog that knows the ropes.
  5. When we first got Sunshine she had what I would describe as a mental breakdown. Scared of trees, wind, birds, leaves, cars, car doors, dishwasher, doors, fridge, creek, fear peed/pooped whenever she saw a stranger (we live in an apt) we wont even talk about the elevator! Lol good thing shes cute. We started her on clomicalm, which didnt help. Then found a vet who would let us try a high dose of Soloxin.after 24 hrs on this she met me at the front door and knocked me off my feet!!! So we continued with that for a few months and the winter snow caused another breakdown. We were dragging the 57lb dog out side while she shook like a leaf and would 'forget' to potty. Of couse remembering inside. I called the vet pleading for drugs and she called a script in for us. Along with us doing tons of socialization and positive training. Its not like we are just throwing drugs at her. Also we couldnt have gotten by w/o our animal communicator, jackie weaver, she somehow get instant results which couples well with the long term prozac. Others will poopoo the AC but I seriously belive that without jackie's help Sunshine would have been bounced.
  6. Sunshine takes 20 mg a day with her supper and it's done wonders! The clomicalm did nothing for her. We pay $7-8 for 50 pills at costco. It was $6.99 at Wally World, but the aggravation of dealing with that pharmacy wasn't worth it anymore. I will gladly pay an extra $1! She's just starting to be ok with the world on it (been on for a little over 2 months) and the vet said we would keep her on it for at least 6 more months then try to wean her off slowly and see what happens. You can also ask your vet for some Xanax that works instantly until the prozac kicks in if she's really bad. Plus make sure you get that T4 checked since a low T4 can cause bizarre spookiness
  7. All of my dogs have bonded with one person (they choose who) and still love the rest of the family. My greys are no different.
  8. Sounds like she can't hold it all day if she needs to go at night. Find a room to baby gate her in for the day and use a leash to walk her back into the bedroom at night. Try a wire crate and feed her meals in it so she likes her crate. Sunshine gets bedtime cookies so she darts to her crate! Lol
  9. Maybe supplement with either salmon oil or vit e/fish oil in his diet? I add that to the girls' food since I have a hard time finding fish that's affordable.
  10. Weird... Wonder if a smelly treat would snap her out of it?
  11. Rainy can be contained with a 3 1/2 foot fence at my Parents house, but Sunshine is a jumper. We plan to get a 7ft fence when we buy a house. But I tend to be very paranoid.... we could probably get away with a 6ft one, and DH had to talk me down from a 8ft one.
  12. I agree! I certainly didn't start blowing on Sunshine belly until she was used to me kissing it and tickling and making silly goofy noises. Now she likes it. She wiggles around on her back with a silly dog smile making her piggy snort noises.
  13. I blow rasberries on Sunshines belly all the time! I always make sure she knows I'm bending down though and make goofy play noises so she's never suprised by it. Rainy doesn't roach so no rasberries for her. Hope you 2 get back on track quickly
  14. LOL Sunshine does this when we bring her leash to go for potty walks. If she roaches and looks reeeeeaaaallllyyy cute maybe they won't be mean and make me get up and walk outside. I don't think of it as submissive but rather one of her bizarre quirks. Maybe she just wants belly rubs? or you to blow raspberries on her belly? How old is she and how long have you had her? Maybe a cute puppy form of a temper tantrum? "don't leave me! Look I'm adorable!" ETA we baby talk silly nonsense to her for a bit, growl and bite her belly, blow raspberries, etc. Then grab her tag collar and up she has to go so we can get the leash/collar on.
  15. Yes that's wonderful they want to play too! Just make sure only 1 person is training at a time so there is no frustration.
  16. I think that is awesome! Some people just don't have a good VOG and might get bit. I don;t even have to give the VOG, I have an evil look that makes our hounds quake!
  17. Rainy is the same way. When it gets really hot out we keep a squirt bottle of water in the fridge and use it before/after potty walks.
  18. Sunshine used to do that when we first got her. We would come home and she was too scared to come greet us so she would scratch at the carpet in a frenzy. That slowly moved onto jumping up at us... and now she just greets us like a normal pup. We just ignored the digging and it went away.... Not sure what you can do about it when your not home...
  19. I do want to add that Rainy is smart enough to know that guests get first couch rights. But is not above looking pitiful and convincing our guests to invite her up It won't be forever! Maybe some clicker training/obedience classes might be fun for you to go attend? She just needs a bit of a tude adjustment.
  20. I would clip her leash onto her collar and lead her off. THEN she would loose all furniture privileges! That is my couch and bed. If I choose to share it I better not get backtalk or snapped at. I'm sure she has some nice comfy dog beds. Start practicing some NILF (Nothing in life is free) Make her work for everything. Lots of obedience training to establish that you are in charge. Maybe in a few more months she will be allowed the privilege again.
  21. Slap a crate back there! We have the same issue with Sunshine. I think she sees it as a safe/easy spot to pee. But she won't pee in a crate so we have a tiny little 36" crate that she gets squished into and she rides along fine. I might be able to take the crate out now.... but I'm scared to! Oh but wait you have a boy! SO MUCH EASIER. Slap a belly band on him and tie that pee pee up! We had a male visiting us that marked on my curtains. Poor DH was horrified by my duct tape dish towel belly band.
  22. This sounds exactly like the way Rainy plays with my parents 1yr old shepard. I would never let her play with a strange dog like that and she's never tried to. She gets after the puppy so much that you can see his fur fly literally. Its all fun and games and the puppy loves it. Plus he's a huge PIA so he needs a good butt kicking every once in a while. If it makes you uncomfortable than don't let her do it. There is always a risk of the other dog biting too hard, or their nails ripping her skin open. The dangers are always there
  23. Ok here's a reply that will confirm every ones suspicions that I am crazy. Animal communicator! Lol I swear every time potty training gets really bad with sunshine a call to our friend Jackie gives us instant results. On our last chat Jackie was quite mean and asked Sunshine if she liked living with us... Because she cannot keep pottying inside and stay with us! (Now you would have to pry her out of our cold dead hands, but the dog doesn't know that) Sunshine says that its easier to go inside and sometimes she just forgets to go outside. We were told to us the phrase "you need to go now" and remind her if she's messing around outside instead of peeing. We are almost at 3 dry weeks since she was read the riot act! 8 months and the darn dog still isn't reliably trained she makes us look like idiots! I feel your frustration and sometimes all you can do is lock yourself in the bathroom for a bit to calm down w/o killing the dog.
  24. That poor pup! I hope as she get used to having normal nails she will get better about walking. *running off to dremel right now*
