  6. SO sorry to see Desi's name here. Another icon lost. My heart hurts for you. Godspeed, DesiRay.
  7. You are not a PITA. You are a well-educated doggy mama. I have had multiple vets tell me that they love greyhound parents because we always come in with the most knowledge and awareness. Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers for you and Zuri.
  8. I am so sorry the news isn't better. Fingers crossed for more/better information this week.
  9. Sending good thoughts for the "all clear" on the x-rays. You are SUCH a good mama.
  10. No advice, just lots of hugs and love for Throp.
  11. I know people will likely give me grief for this, and I don't actually think peeing in the house is a behavior to be endorsed, but when I moved with Tallulah (who had been through a lot of changes in 9 short months) I found that indoor grass potties really solved the problem and are pretty affordable. I still order them because Tallulah is not crazy about walks! She gets all excited to get her leash on and go but once we are out, she is ready to go back inside. I am also super picky about who walks my girls and I have yet to find someone in LA so this is a good solution for now. I get them from Amazon but you can certainly order from the vendor. I order/ordered Doggie Lawn because the size is slightly larger but there is also Fresh Patch. With shipping, the cost is equal to what I paid for two walks when I was in NYC.
  12. What a beautiful tribute. Fly fast and free, Lizzie.
  13. I found out last night that you (at least I) don't even have to cook it. Neighbor had cans of lamb and rice food. Treat! Canned food. Into the bowl it went. Into a massive pacing, licking, refusing to settle down and being majorly anxious state, went Tallulah. Removed the food, gave her some rescue remedy, lit a scented candle. About an hour or so later she calmed down a bit. Yikes!
  14. I went through this 5/6 years ago with Aquitaine. It was terrifying but made less so because I knew enough about it from others here having paved the way. We chose to remove her spleen. She did well with the surgery and we had 3.5 more years together. Her tumor was benign (and her grateful mother who was hysterical proposed to the surgeon when he delivered the news!). Like others have said, there was no sign. I had a healthy dog when we went to sleep and at 3 am there was clearly something wrong. Off to the ER we went with no other information than, she doesn't feel right, she is not herself. It was a long wait until the morning staff came in but the overnight doc went above and beyond and did every test he could think of and finally found the mass with the ultrasound. The ONLY negative thing I can say is that if you are in a major market, the surgery and after care are going to be very costly. I took a fair amount of flack for what I paid which was well over $10,000. I don't regret a penny of it but boy are the prices more reasonable in smaller markets! Many prayers for you and your boy. Don't give up.
