  2. we have to kennel her..long story but i have tried to find grey people to watch her but it is very difficult to find them that will do it.
  3. i am sorry i must be out of it what kind of shirts are they? can ya send the pic of it?
  4. I just talked to the vet again. he said give bland diet over the weekend and if necessary try a lil immodioum. The more we talked he thins it was stressed induced and a problem in her small intestine not large. he said next week if she still not better he will give her albone (spelling) it is a sulfa drug. He said i can also look into probiotics for her. Funny, cause that is what i take. I am in remission for coloitis. The poor dog may share my affliction. I really appreciate everyones helpful hints. This site is so helpful and resourceful. I also told the vet I am concerned cause we are taking her back to the kennel in two weeks. he thinks it wasnt the kennel but stress. The kennel is extremely clean. The people there are germaphobs..lol. I hope she gets better soon cause she does therapy work and starting hospice work soon. The vet said when a dog poops a lot more frequently than normal that is from the large intestine. she is going the same amount but it is just watery. He said that is the small intestine. Anyone out there know the difference? I am not a medical person. ty
  5. ok ty will go back to the bland diet. they dont tell ya when ya adopt a grey how expensive and worrisome they can be....lol on a lighter note..this morning..i wish i had a pic she went out in the backyard found a pile of leaves and layed down right in the middle of them. it was picture perfect. Of course when ya go inside and get the camera she gets up..lol. i think my stomach is upset now thinking about her poor stomach..must be a mother's love huh??
  6. well the three days of panacur seemed to have made her worse. I guess it means she doesnt have a parasite/?? Her poop is all water now. I called the vet again this morning. It is so frustrating. She and I worked so hard for her to become a therapy dog and i am so down now, worried that she is sick. We had a very sick dog before lexie for 2 years and I guess it is just bringing back depressing memories. If the vet wants to do a colonoscopy, do they have to be cleaned out like people with laxatives? How long is the recovery? Sorry, I am going a little overboard with emotions. I just wasnt ready for this. ty
  7. ty all i have tried the bland diet. the vet will have the results next wed so i will let ya know. ty all i have tried the bland diet. the vet will have the results next wed so i will let ya know. ty all i have tried the bland diet. the vet will have the results next wed so i will let ya know.
  8. well she finished the antibotics and nothings changed. the vet had me bring in another sample. this one he will send out. i told him about trying the panacur and he agreed. She has been on it one day and no change yet. I am trying the straight bil jac. I know it is something that she must have picked up from the kennel cause she has been fine the past year. The vet said if the fecal comes back normal, she may need a colonoscopy? I am really concerned about doing that. He said her first fecal was for parasites. This fecal he is sending out. I guess it will show if she has salmonalli or things like that. Anyones dog out there ever had that done or have had a colonoscopy? My husband says the dog must take after me cause I have a bad stomach too...lol. It is just so frustrating cause she has been at this kennel before and these people are neat fanatics. I do appreciate all your input and advice. My vet is real good about listening to me and he had no problem when i mentione the panacur that I told him some "grey" friends told me to give it a try. We are supposed to go away again in three weeks so I am hoping we know something by then.
  9. about a month ago after picking lexie up from a well cleaned kennel she had diarrhea. vet put her on an antibiotic which cleared it up .He thught maybe she ate something out in the kennel yard. as soon as the antibiotic was done the diarrhea came back. Vet put her on antibiotic again. This time it is not helping. She has been on it a week. He did a stool sample the first time and no parasites. I am calling tomorrow cause i think he said if she still has no change he would have to send out a screening. What will they be looking for in that screening and what could she have? The vet had me add bil jac to her food. He said that always firms up poops but that didnt even help. Was wondering if anyone knew what they screen for and what could she have? She still poops the same amount each day..three times.. but it is not formed at all. she is not lethargic. She is still her happy self. thanks

  11. i agree that emj gel works good or neosporin. cover with gauze and muzzle
  12. I noticed some black gunk deep in my dog's ear. What is the safest way to get it out? Should i use a q tip and rubbing alcohol or something else? Or do I leave it there?
  13. Make up a first aid kit. when we first adopted ours we sure needed it. Keep lots of wrapped gauze in there and some metro gel, others will tell ya what else to keep in the first aid kit.
  14. sorry i can't be of help. I feel so bad for you and your baby.
  15. I was walking lexie and all of a sudden she litfed her paw and I looked and saw a half dead bee. It looked like it stung her on one of her pads. She limped a little till we got home and I put ice on it which stopped the swelling. It isn't swollen now just a lil red. I was thinking later..how do I know if the stinger came out. I don't have a magnifying glass to look? Are there signs I should look for? I figure if it doesn't swell up tomorrow or get any redder it should be ok. Anyone have any experience with this? TY

my heart goes out to you. You did the right thing.
  17. Try putting some college inn chicken broth in with her food. That is how i used to get my older dog to eat food. gl
  18. routine is key. ours was shy and routine walking helped a lot and treats when something new came along. ours was deathly afraid of schoolbuses and mail trucks. I got the mail guy involved and evertyime he passed us by he gave lexie a treat. she loves the truck now...lol. took about a month doing it almost daily but it does work. just takes time and routine. gl
  19. mine likes the poultry toothpaste not the mint flavored. i got mine used to a kids battery operated one. first few times she had a lil trouble. i agree do it routinely so she gets use to it.
