  1. our grey hardly drinks water and not till the end of the day. on hot days i worry cause u could see she is dehydrated. i gave her some soup in her water which then she will drink. any other suggestions? i hate to give broth daily. she does eat ice but not too many at a time.
  2. don't ya just love it when the vets say "keep the dog quiet" yea right!!!! should we get those relaxing eye masks like people use and some tranquil music . more like those straps they use for mental patients and a straight jacket for dogs? lol
  3. how do you get them to slow down their drinking? or is that a lost cause? lol
  4. we had our grey almost a year. we just started noticing lately after she drinks water she coughs. anyone know if that is "normal' i tried raising the water but no matter what height she still does it.
  5. lol lexie has the same comforter as sparky. walmart specials...lol
  6. when my 18 year old dog got older she would get stuck in places. we found out it was cause of her cataracts. she was going blind. maybe a lil of that and the dementia. g-d bless her.
  7. chicken broth is good. also small pieces of plain chicken. oh also one time mine wouldnt drink i put a few sips of vitamin water in it she drank it up. she thought it was something different. Just dont give like 2 whole cups cause of the sugar
  8. We had our grey 8 months she never had an accident. she peed upstairs a few days ago. I just thought maybe she didn't know how to get back down. Then yesterday she peed like about ten minutes after her firt morning going out. There was a knok at the dorr and she barked. Could she have been nervous? She ussually doesnt pee when she is nervous. She just finished a round of amoxacillion for her gash in her toe about 4 days ago. Could that cause a urinary infection. She doesnt seem to be peeing more than ussual and hasnt peed in her cage at night. Should i wait till over the weekend and see what happens and if continues i will get a urine sample. Could her being nervous cause this. She hasn't done this for 8 months sicne we got her. Thanks, Any comments or suggestionsa re always appreciated. I used club soda which it came out. Should i Use a spray for the odor. I don't want to stain the carpet with an odorizer.
  9. i got large. it is meant to use for a paw that is bandaged. my grey is 60 pounds
  10. ok ty all. how long does a scab take? lol we are anxious parents...lol
  11. what is lick guard? I never heard of it
  12. hi, Lexie got her three stitches out of near the top of her nail. she had a small gash from something metal. when the vet took the stitches out she was bleeding a little. He said to use neosporin and still cover it for a few days and have her not run around. My question is..how long will I know until it is ready? Like a few days will it look like a scab or should I just wait like 5 days or so. We have snow and rain and it is a mess. I still cover it just didnt know how long I should wait till i start letting her out with it uncovered. I hate for it to split open again. Any suggestions are welcome
  13. i asked the same question when we adopted our grey. her behind got all red from the sun . the dermatologist vet said to use a kids suntan lotion...lol
  14. i would wash that good with soap and water and try a lil neosporin.
  15. what to they do for torn ligaments and if her toenail is broken or something and they remove it how long is the recoop process. sorry i am a paranoid mom..her nail below the stitches looks damged like some of it got scraped. it is a lil red but doesnt look swollen yet. Her stitches above the nail look good but i am not a vet...lol..could her nail that looks damaged cause her not to put weight on it? oh I guess that is a dumb question...of course it would..ss just worried and you guys are so helpful. I was the one who ordered the therapaw after using iv bags in 2 feet deep snow. The therapaw is great.
  16. She won't put any weight on it and all week she did. I am hoping your right and she just ran too fast for the first time and it is sore, but it has been 5 hours now and still no weight on her foot. I have rimydel but I hate to give that to her in case i have to go to the vet and it would mask her pain. any ideas? Just wait and see huh? That is always the hardest part for parents. These things always happen on a sunday...lol
  17. We have rewrapped and looked at it. The stitches look great. I don't know what else to look for? The nail below the cut looks a lil bit rid but not swollen or anything.
  18. Hi, our grey got stitches a week ago on the side of the top of one nail. three stitches. she got a big gash by running into a metal light outsidi (we think) anyway she was feeling well, no limping. we were suppose to have the stictches removed in three days. this morning when we let her out she ran around then came back limping. could she have torn the ligament in that toe? if so what do they do for a torn ligament and how long is the recoop process. WE are bummed cause we thought we were ready to remove stitches and she would be all better. I am going to call the vet in the am he will prob want to do x rays. I was just wondering what else u think she could have done and what they do and the recoop time. it has been hard this past week as it is. ty any input is appreciated.
  19. That medipaw is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ty so much!!!! It works wonderfully and the grey walks in it well and easy for us.. Bless you..your a greysavor.
  20. Our grey had to get stitches on her paw. we tried everything to keep it dry outside. someone on greytalk reccoment from sitstay.com the therapaw. It is a mracle. was only 18 dollars and the best investment. It is nylon, has two velcro straps one on top and one at the ankle. Not those kind ya have to wrap and wrap and wrap. It stays in place and our grey can walk in it real well. I would reccomend it to everyone. Thanks to whoever mentioned it on here.
  21. Thank u all. the iv bag seems to be working the best in 2 feet of snow...lol.i will be glad when the stitches come off. I know I am going to be paranoid now about every little thing when she walks anywhere!!
  22. did your house smell like pig ears since it slid behind the radiator? It must have given off a good smell..lol... all kidding aside, your an angel to him.
  23. when my dog of 18 years passed, I was glad I was there. This may sound creepy to some but the vet let me cut a little piece of her hair off. I saved it in a ziploc bag and put it in her scrapbook. I am glad I did. Every now and then i can feel her fur. My thoughts are with ya hon.
  24. I was just curious could there have been another way than stitching my grey with 2 stitches like liquid bandaids or something/ Or don't they do that in dogs? I never thought to ask the er but was curious for next time she gets a gash. I hate to go through this trying to keep it dry especially with all the snow here. ty
