  1. wish i could help more iall i can do is tell you what helped lexie after her round of dierrhea for a month. after all the antibiotcs..bland food//stool tests..more stool tests....what fianlly worked was the tyleson powder low residue food and 2 tbsps shredded beet pulp. i also giver her one of my probitocs daily. the pearls brand. each dog is different. I understand totally how frustrating it is. take care. you will find the right mixture. i use the low iams low residue food the shredded beet pulp was cheap got it at a horse feed place 15 bucks for a 40 pound bag.. enouhg for the greys lifetime...lol tyleson powder wasnt too expensive either she was on it a good month. she off the powder now for 2 weeks and knock on wood is doing well. good luck.
  2. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family.
  3. Lexi'es nose only drips when she is nervous or anxiety.
  4. ever try the tyleson powder.?it is an antibiotic
  5. believe me i understand about that. we went though that with lexie for almost two months after the tyleson powder probiotic and now iams low residue oh and shredded beet pulp she has normal poops too. lol.. I bet you neve rthought you would be jumping for joy over a poop???????
  6. Lexie just had her yearly check up. The vet said he heard a heart murnur. He said he either missed it last time or she developed one. I thought they are born with it. Could stress or meds cause a heart murmur? He did a chest x ray on her and is sending it to the radiologist. I will know results friday. Anyone else experience this? she is 3 years old only med she on now is that tyleson powder which seems to have helped her "mushy" problem.
  7. my vet said to use vasoline as a protective preventive. I put some on at night and mine doesnt lick it off
  8. i was told by vet 1/2 tablet every 12 hours
  9. yes check out my dog's thread..lol. 2 months she has it..never had it before. the beet pulp helped some and i give her a probiotic and the vet put her on tyleson powder. She has firm poops again..(knock on wood) I think the beet pulp is helping a lot. ge tit at a feed store like for horses. It is 15 bucks for a 40 pound bag which will last you a lifetime...lolI feed lexie 1 tbsp twice a day sprinkled on her food. gl
  10. i told the vet about it cause people on here said it worked good so he prescribed it for me
  11. mine never had loose poops till 2 months ago. we have had her 1 1/2 that is why i knew it wasnt right.
  12. yes it is the tyleson powder. my vet had me mix it with parts 1 tbsp to 9tbsp cornstarch then i give one tsp of that twice daily. I don't know where to get gel caps so I have been mixing it in applesauce. She has no problem eating that..lol. I am using the probiotic brand called pearls. I use those myself cause i am in remision of colitis. They are kind of expensive. 90 round ones for like 45 dollars but since they worked for me I am using them for lexie. They are individually wrapped in foil like. They look like pearls..lol I think upping the beet pulp has helped and the powder. I am just so glad. GL to u 2. Let me know if it helps yours
  13. ok so lexie has been on the beet pulp about a week which seemed to help a lil. I added a probiotic. the vet prescribed the powder antibiotic which u guys recoomended for small intestine. she has been on it two days now and woa!!!! an actual formed poop. yIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I have never been so excited...lol. It has been almost 2 months. (knock on wood) I hope this will last so we dont need to see the specialist. TY TY all so much. Pray it lasts.
  14. 2 rounds of panacour. i dont think a full tick panel i will have to ask vet. i know he did a lot of blood work and stool work i am tired so going to bed now. will probably have nightmares of worms coming out of poop or something...lol see ya manana
  15. she is on th eima/eukanoba rx low residue dry and i freeze in ice cube trays the canned for treats. all of the threads are so helpful. It is not diarrhea anymre just mush. she doesnt go more often actually only twice a day she use to go three times. I think she lost a few pounds cause the food is so low in fat. I am going to copy what u wrote lynn so i can go back to it again. ty so much. I know if she had diarrhea this long or no control I wouldnt hesitate for the endo/colonoscomy. I keep hoping what u guys and the vet suggests work cause I would hate to go though all that with her and the specialist puts her on the same diet. Her only test that was a alil off was the folate. I think vet said it was border a lil high not low. this may sound umm wierd too but I dont want to have to fast her for 48 hours for those procdures. I couldnt bare to watch her not eat for that long. I am glad you all are here to help. Thanks so much. I will keep ya updated. Oh, I did up the beet pulp since we have a 40 pound bag..lol. her mush wasnt so mushy tonight...lol i have had her on probiotics about a week now
  16. are there any side effects from all that cornstarch or the tylesin powder? we are taking her to visit my mom in law who is in assited living. Hate to have some big conrstarch accident..lol
  17. vet sub called back. he said we can try tyleson powder for two days and see if any improvement. ya mix 1 tbs with 9 tbs cornstarch then mix with applesacue or cheese. seems like a lot of cornstarch but he is just giving me enough for two doses to see if any change. he said if it works he can get the diluted stuff but this will be the cheaper route. I am glad i have a vet practice that is willing to try different things before a big procedure. i tried the chicken rice bland diet. I thought that for sure would help. that also didnt do anything. its is almost like no matter what she eats its still a problem. Anyone use the tyleson powder? I hope it helps..sounds real yummy with all that cornstarch lol
  18. she was origionaly on purino pro plan salmon and chicken. we tried the biljac cause a lot of people said that would firm her up. that didnt do a thing either. ;( Her low residue that she is on now is iams prescription. I guess iams bought out the old eukanaboa.
  19. so its been almost two months since she has had mushy poop never have it before in her life. she is 3. did all the blood, stool tests. did the antibiotics, panacur. she on the low residue food for two weeks now.. I dont want to do an endo or colonoscomy if i can help it. It is soo costly plus i dont want lexie to go through that. I tried the pumkin made it worse. she has been on the dried beet pulp about a week now. no change. Any other suggestions? She is fine other than that but it is not her "normal poop" I really dont want to try raw so any other suggestions please would be helpful. I am at my wits end. The vet thinks it is in her upper intestines. he at wits end too...lol
  20. i had a dog once that would only eat frozen poop. I guess he didn't like em mushy..only liked poopsicles....lol
  21. omg i went through the same thing..tried everything that this site recoomended. the best thing that worked was vegetable oil but ya have to rub it in good and rub out. i did it several times. it eventually came out...gl i feel for ya
