  1. Yep... count on these forums for laugh filled discussions of poop and all its hidden wonders No wonder Dirty Jobs is popular with the membership...
  2. Great. Based on my experience with my cats, your foster should be wokr free in short order.
  3. I think this is the link taylorsmom was referting to: http://home.comcast.net/~greyhndz/hypothyroid.htm Other good health info on Dr. Stack's site, as well
  4. I don't know about the indifference, but if hypothyroidism in dogs is anything like it is in humans (my mom was hypothyroid) that would explain his tiredness. Hope he's feeling better soon.
  5. I hope you'll both be OK. I can tell from your other posts how close you've become to Gigi. Can't say much for your vet's bedside manner, though.
  6. Here's hoping his treatment goes well..
  7. One of the "joys" of dog ownership I have so far been spared...
  8. Honey developed a "mystery limp" a couple of years ago. Although she was in considerable pain, there was no obvious injury and not much tenderness. Xrays showed nothing. The vet put her on anti-inflammatory but it did take a couple of weeks to completely resolve. Nearly as we could tell, she either had a sprain or pulled muscle. I know the "mystery" limps are worrisome, but taking to the vet is the best thing, I think.
  9. Glad it's nothing serious. Hope she's good as new very soon.
  10. Sounds like maybe a contact dermatitis? Might be worth a trip to the vet just to rule out any parasites besides fleas. Oh, and I got to two times and sprained my tongue
  11. Rottweilers are also probe to bone cancer. Big, yes. Tall, not really.
  12. This says it for me better than I can: http://www.galtx.org/joys.shtml
  13. I think they get worms by eating something. I know for that's true tape worms. You will see shed tape worm segments in their poop. I don't think you'll see the other types (hook, round, whip) live in their poop. Interceptor, for one, prevents hook, whip and round worms in addition to heart worm, but I don't know if it's 100% effective. Heart worm is spread by mosquitos. As far as I know, any breed (and supposedly cats, too) can get heart worm.
  14. I'd have the vet look at that ASAP if it hasn't healed in two weeks.
  15. I call Kara my toothless wonder puppy. When I had her as a foster she lost 29 teeth. Six months later, she lost another six (I think they have 40, so she's down to five, three of which are canines). I add water to her kibble, but, believe it or not, she has no trouble with crunchy treats. I give my girls Mother Hubbard's. They're small, which makes it easier for Kara. She's also been known to completely consume a Greenie.
  16. Ah, yes... the favorite post meet-and-greet activity... for me, as well
  17. Been there, done that... a dive trip to Turks and Caicos...
  18. Well, as many of us have said... as long as it works and doesn't cause her any problems, just enjoy her. She's a pretty girl.
  19. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
  20. Ouch! Hope he does well and heals quickly
