  1. I'm so sorry Linda . I would love to see a picture of Flame if you have some available.
  2. You've gotten some really great advice and I just want to share an opinion, is her fear hindering her progress? Meaning, is her fear harming her? I ask this because I have one very shy almost fearful dog. The best thing that I think have been to just let her adjust on her own, I have done no meds, no extra coddling and really have asked nothing extra of her. If she wants to hang out in the back room I let her. I've had her for almost 4 years now and she is sooo much better than she was early on. She is still shy and I just let her be. She is not a meet and greet dog and really she doesn't enjoy being around a lot of people and that is ok by me. I don't push with her. Now, if her fear is hindering her progress in that she won't even go outside to potty or she is starving herself then yes, get some meds and get something going. But also, give her some time and space. My shy dog responds best to my husband, and it irritates me because he basically ignores her I am the one that hand fed her for a long time and I am the one constantly talking to her, but when she decides to finally want attention she goes to him and he stares at the tv, doesn't even say her name and just pets her, then she leaves and lays down. I get a little jealous that she doesn't come to me .
  3. With Ivy we resorted to cooking ground beef with egg noodles for her, also added some nutritional yeast. What really got her going though was the vet gave her a steroid injection and said that it also works as an appetite stimulant. It was the push she needed to continue eating. Good luck with her.
  4. The nose and face are perfect. Nothing else going on anywhere, just the one ear.
  5. No smell at all. The vet even seemed a bit stumped. When you flake off some of the crusty parts it bleeds. He thoroughly checked the inside of the ears and there is nothing. He didn't have it at all when I picked him up, it just started about 2 weeks ago. That is what the vet wants to do in 2 more weeks, he wants him to be on the cephalexin for 2 weeks and then recheck. He mentioned an autoimmune and also something else, I can't remember the name.
  6. And if you look closely you will see that "pieces" of his ear are missing. It seems to be that when the scab or crusty part falls off it takes a piece of ear as well.
  7. Does anyone know anything about this? A few weeks ago I noticed Dare had a sore on his ear flap. I chalked it up to his running in the back yard and possibly Carmen nipped his ear. No biggie, but then took him to the vet and we cleaned it up and there were no bites. In fact when we cleaned it the hair all fell off and then we noticed more sores along the edged of his ear. The vet did a skin scraping to rule out demodectic and sarcoptic mange. Those came back negative. We were sent home with cephalexin and some tresaderm. In the last few days though it seems to have worsened. I've done some sleuthing on the net and found Dermatosis and have seen several photos that present almost identical to Dare's ears. If you know anything about this can you tell me any information? Any way to clear it up? It isn't itchy to him but it is painful, he screams out if I touch the ear and he will shake his head very slowly and then scream . I'll add a photo in a minute from my phone.
  8. Welcome! Willa is stunning and looks a lot like my Madi Those dirty faced dogs are so, so cute!
  9. If it's still wet you can get some baking soda, several boxes, and dump it on the wet spots. Then later as it soaks up then vacuum it all up. But if the powder is all wet then you need to pour more on it until it's not wet any longer. I leave it for a few hours to soak up everything.
  10. The best thing you can do is just give him some time. It's only been 5 days. Some take longer than that to settle. I like to say about 6 months to really get to know a dog, if not longer. I bet in another month he will have forgotten his fear of the main area. I also agree with the above poster, feed him where he is comfortable right now. As he and you get used to each other you can slowly transition the feeding area.
  11. I may get totally flamed for this but I'm not changing food. I've not had issues with it and I figure now that they had the inspection they will be even better than ever. I do mix the Costco chicken and rice with natures domain. Anyway, my crew does pretty well and we've been on it for about 4 years now.
  12. First eliminate any question of illness. After you have found that he is healthy I would probably start back at square one and either crate or gate in one area. Slowly allow him more space when he is showing that he doesn't eliminate in the area. Sometimes this will take longer and sometimes you will have to go back a bit. Just be patient. Some have had success using a belly band, I've never used one so I don't have any suggestions about it. Good luck
  13. Kerry, mine is a new one and the screen was like you posted until I updated the os. (I think that's how you say it).
  14. For the iphone, is it possible that you need to update? I haven't updated my phone in a while and it came up weird. I just got finished updating and it fixed it.
  15. We cooked egg noodles and then put those with some kibble and hamburger meat in a skillet together. At first Ivy only ate a bite or two and that would mostly be me taking a glob and smearing it in and on her mouth. Eventually she would eat more and more. The spaghettios are a good idea, and then you can both snack together . We also mixed in wet canned food, the cheapest and smelliest we could find. The food bowl looked disgusting but she would eat a bite or two and then I called it a success. Another thing I remembered is that the vet gave her a steroid shot and also had me giving steroids at home. A secondary benefit is that it increases hunger. I do believe it helped Ivy a lot.
  16. But I don't obsess I like the surprise of it. I don't go looking for anything. In this instance it was a fun revelation .
  17. Hope Violet is doing well this morning. When Steak was on so many pills he would just eat them up with his kibble. One day as I was tossing them into the bowl Blu ran over and caught one mid drop! I panicked a bit and then smiled because I thought for once maybe he would catch a side effect and be calm.
  18. Just be sure it really is a tick (legs will be seen) instead of a nipple
  19. CTW Legally Wed (Madi) CTW Well Done (Steak) Together
  20. Case's race name is CTW Legal Case OMG! I have your dogs littermate I have CTW Legally Wed, now known as Madi. My boy that I was telling you about, Steak, was CTW Well Done. He was a full sibling but in a different breeding two years earlier .
  21. Yep I had a boy named Steak and he LOVED the leash, so much so that when my husband would go to put on a belt in the morning he had to hide in the closet because Steak thought it was a leash and would come barreling into him and bucking all around and jumping up and down He is gone now and not a moment goes by any day that I don't think of him. Enjoy the quirks. You can work with your dog to calm down a bit, we did with Steak but he still would get so excited and it always put a smile on my face
