  1. Chloe had a fractured upper canine when we adopted her. It abcessed 2 months later - turned black and was removed. If you didn't examine her mouth, you would never know it was gone. She wasn't even 3 at the time. Dogs don't need teeth. Polli had 17 removed when we first got her. There are many dogs who have had many more extracted and do just fine. If he is in pain or there is a chance of infection, your best bet is to do it sooner, rather than later.
  2. So many tears. Run free beautiful puppies.
  3. I am so sorry. Much, much , much too young. Run free beautiful boy.
  4. I am so sorry. She really was a beautiful girl. Fly Free Sweetie.
  5. Just so you know, we gave up even trying to feed Polli in the morning over a year ago. We leave her (before we leave for work) with one milkbone and several zukes. Then sometime between 5 and 7 pm we start with dinner. Prior to her amp, she was 61 pounds and maintained beautifully. Now after amp she is 53 pounds and is maintaining as well. Could you try the once a day approach with many cookie supplements?
  6. This is EXACTLY what Beau has been going through for a week. A guggly stomach that I can hear across the room. he goes out in the back and stays there forever even in the pouring rain. I brought him into the vet yesterday. She did say there was a virus going around. he got a shot, a rectal exam, had his poop tested. All was OK. Today -- SAME THING! She said to give him pedcid morning and at night till Tuesday and if by then, it's still happening, we should do flagyl 250 BID. Hope Merlin has a dumb bug that will pass quickly!
  7. Lora~ We are ALL here for you and Willie in whatever way you need us. One day at a time, one foot in front of the other and before you know it, it WILL be ok. Willie will be up about and most of all, pain AND cancer free. Hugs to you both.
  8. Your family is just absolutely beautiful. I have just started getting involved with the Galgos in Spain/G.R.I.N.
  9. That's terrible. I am so sorry to hear this. I had so hoped not to hear that as a diagnosis.
  10. Limping is a sign of osteo BUT Polli had a horrible horrible limp a year BEFORE to the day she was diagnosed with osteo and at THAT time, her x-rays were clear. Her limp cleared up 100% and would appear slightly from time to time, but more often she did NOT have it. Go figure. Also, a break/fracture of a bone when ordinarily, it shouldn't have happened could be a "sign" of cancer.
  11. Just back from vet. Poops= no worms. He must have a virus. he got a shot and we will keep him on pepcid 2x a day for the next couple of days. he did seem OK this morning, but I didn't want to take the chance. My Beau Beau is not brave! We are happy to be back!

    I am so sorry.
  16. He did eat his breakfast about an hour after the pepcid was given, in addition to several cookies. I can get an appointment today if I need to but the greyhound savvy vets are not in and I would rather wait until the morning (unless of course GOD forbid it gets worse. I don't want to give him immodium after just one splat and until his poop is evaluated. In the meantime, his poop was dropped off so at least that can be evaluated immediately. He is resting comfortably and is like I said, otherwise happy. So, hopefully he just has a gastro intestinal bug. And a small bug at that!!!!
  17. Hope it's nothing, but if this has been going on for several days and continues today- can you bring her in tomorrow?
  18. We gave him a pepcid this morning- he did refuse breakfast even with boiled chicken breast in it- he kept walking over to it and smelling it and walking away. I am home today so I can feed him whenever he feels like it. I am waiting for the vet to open and will make appointment for either today or 1st thing in the morning. His poops are soft to loose as usual.
  19. Over the course of the last week or so, every 2 -3 days he has been waking us about 1/2 hour early to go out. The difference is that he will not just go out and do his thing, he will stay out there for 1/2 hour. EVEN IN THE POURING RAIN!!!! He will nibble whatever grass he can find and just be wandering around. When he comes in we can hear his tummy from across the room. It sounds like the 4th of July. He las lost weight and Beau has been maintaining his racing weight since we adopted him. So, he can not affored to lose an ounce. All his ribs are now slightly visable. I will get an appointment just as soon as I can, but I'm trying to figure out what this is. A gastro intestinal virus? Wouldn't the others get it too? Worms? We've been through the worms thing before but this is not how it manifested itself. ETA- other than this - his is his normal mental case, happy self! ETS #2 Poops were a SPLAT with grass in it. DH is dropping it off to vet on his way in to work. We have 9:30 appointment tomorrow morning. IF he appears worse, he will go in today.
  20. Speedy healing to pretty Lola and remember it's all important. Whatever it is we are going through it very major at the time it's happenenig and yes, we all do "get it"! Hugs to you both.
  21. Oh my poor sister!!! Chloe says and to make you feel better Lexy, this too is for you. Love you, Chloe (and the rest of her pack too!) xoxoxox
