  1. I saw a picture of your Lucy and I thought, "wow, she looks like my Cairo (Comedy Center)!" Then I saw My Rooster under her name and that got me on greyhound data, and I discovered your Lucy and my Cairo are half siblings!! They have the same dad, and boy do they resemble each other, spots and all!! ps-- hope Lucy is feeling better! Diesel is her littermate, so he is a half sib too! It is funny because the My Rooster kids all have the same head and ear shape I think. Lucy and Cairo even have the same spotty legs! Lucy's dental is Wed, but I had a serious panic attack when I booked it. I know I'll be a basket case, but she will be ok. Funny girl squeezed in between Diesel and I on the couch-so she's crashed and snoring like a logger on my feet.
  2. Unfortunately, with puppies-sometimes the best thing you can do is wait and do nothing. It is one of those tough things, but if you give the zoom monkey something and she over does it because she feels better-then it wasn't worth it. Sally jumped off the trampoline, and I thought she broke her leg. It really scared me and she was very quiet and limped most of the night. She didn't squeak when you poked or prodded her or pulled anything-but she is very stoic. The decision was made to wait until the morning, since she wasn't crying or obviously broken-and towards evening she was putting her foot down again. In the morning, she was crazy girl again so no visit was needed. Now, if it was obvious that there was something really wrong, like swelling or worse-then I would hit the e-vet. Give the fuzz bunny a kiss from me and tell her to take it easy tonight. I'll cross everything that she is fine in the morning.
  3. OH Judy, my heart is aching for you. Many many prayers for Jack, for you and your DH and for the saintly vet who is taking care of Jack.
  4. Thanks< and keep them coming. I just found out that I personally know one of the techs that works there-so that helps too. She has been a very different dog since her incident, mostly in a good way. It is like her filters are gone, and she does what she wants and is very pushy so she can have her way. She woke me up the other night by staring at me and making chewing noises which were disturbing. I figured she wanted out to go potty, but no-she wanted to do the Snoopy Dance in the moonlight and zoom around the yard for a couple of minutes and I love and enjoy her sillyness every day.
  5. So Lovely Lucy has sewer mouth right now. I know she has some serious periodontal issues that need to be taken care of, but since her infarction/stroke whatever it was I have been scared and even the vet said to wait even though she really needed a dental then. She is one of those that can have a dental and a month later look like she never had one. She has gotten the all-clear and go ahead for a dental, but I know I will still worry like crazy-so good thoughts for my silly girl who's elevator does not go to the top floor please.
  6. Give your sweet old girl a gentle squeeze from me.

Oh I am so sorry for your loss.
  8. Discuss it with your vet, and you should be able to get at least a week's free samples from the company. If you can't find the link or get ahold of any, pm me and I can send you some. I use it for my 12 yo Diesel, and when he takes it consistantly-I believe it helps. He is having some issues with his back end lately though and has been refusing to take it but started taking it again last night. We have been through at least 6 bottles over the last year and I do know it has helped him. I don't 100% know the reason he is being a pain about taking it right now, but the DGP has definately helped him in the past.
  9. I second the arnica cream. I wouldn't freak out yet, only if it gets bigger and worse.
  10. Diesel had a lower babesia titer, but was very symptomatic. When we treated him, that afternoon you could tell he felt better. 2 weeks later you treat them again with a second shot. I've had 2 fosters treated with Imizol also, and the worst part is the shot. It has to be done in the muscle which is painful, but I had one foster who didn't even squeak either time. I lived 3 minutes from my vet, so they would let me take the dogs home and usually there is some nausea, drooling, then vomiting and then it seems to get better shortly. Diesel was "off" for about 4 hours but then had the zoomies around the yard for the first time. The only incident I have heard of that went wrong, was when the Imizol was done subceutaniously vs in the muscle. The poor dog got a lesion at the injection site and it took forever to heal.
  11. Poor Griffin! I'm sending prayers he will be back to his normal self shortly. Coming home and snuggling with Mom always helps too. Sally ate a bottle of Aleve and that wasn't good. After the vet, she still had issues if she ate too fast for several weeks. I would feed her a piece of bread slowly torn up into pieces, or handfuls of cooked white rice-I would try to take 5 min to do it. Then I would wait about 15 minutes and then hand feed her kibble, trying to take 5-10 min instead of her 30 second hoover. This helped a lot, but if I didn't do the routine she would vomit every time within about 10 minutes. So maybe her experience might help Griffin. The key is bland food, lots of carbs and slow feeding until his tummy liner has time to heal.
  12. The Sally Monster has typical gunky coonhound ears, and they have to be wiped every other day or she gets an infection. I'm currently using a product from Wysong on her...the Otisol-O. It has eucalyptus in it, so it helps with the itching. She actually lets me put this stuff in, because it stops the itching and is cooling. http://www.wysong.net/Merchant2/merchant.m...Product_Count=4 Supposedly this one is good...I have some on order and can let you know how it works on floppy coonhound girl. http://www.medi-vet.com/detail.aspx?ID=3851 Otirinse is good for grungy ears too... http://www.medi-vet.com/detail.aspx?ID=1742 and Zymox makes some great products including a wash that are great for ears. http://www.medi-vet.com/detail.aspx?ID=3070 I used that brand on Hogan, but haven't gotten my hands on it yet for Sally.
  13. Poor Soul, I hope this resolves quickly.
  14. More prayers for Dallas and the senior boy...
  15. I am so sorry. Run free sweet Renie.
  16. I'd keep an eye on it in case some mouth parts got left behind. You could probably call your vet and the tech should be able to call you back and ease your mind as well as tell you what to look for. Is it red or hot? Is the lump getting bigger? When we caught my Dad's wild dog in the woods, we pulled over a hundred ticks off her and a lot of the sites had a bump left behind even after the tick was gone-kind of like a scar or a raised spot while she was healing. She had to have stitches for a cut from barb wire so was on antibiotics and we didn't have to worry about infection from stupid tick parts but I do remember the vet saying something about it.
  17. Orchard Hills is great, so I wouldn't worry. I know it is hard not to though. Get a couple of rolls of the Glad Press and Seal and wrap it over the top of the IV bag and bandage before he comes out. Take it off after he comes in, and you can air dry it and re-use it if you need to.
