Please take her to the Vet and get a proper diagnosis so that whatever decision you make will be an informed one. Sending prayers.

I don't see any judgement in the responses - just incredibly generous offers of help and support.

A subject line that says"May be putting our grey down tomorrow." and a post that says "I can't handle it anymore," doesn't suggest that you can handle it or were seeking solutions.

Yes, I'm tired but still not going to put her down cause I'm tired. She had a bad day yesterday but seems better today. I will let the vet look at her and advise me what to do. Giving up my dog after 10yrs to a stranger is NEVER something I would do. No one likes cleaning poop and pee up and off a dog 3-4 times a day. She is expened not crated. Sorry I just call it a crate. She has plenty of room to get away from it so not sure why it's all over her. She made it all night without any accidents so we are hoping for none all day. I only work part time so she's only alone for maybe 4 hours tops. Gotta run. Heading to give her a nice hot bath so she doesn't stinky and to make her feel better. She's our old girl and we love her to pieces. Would never do anything to hurt her.

I did make her an appointment with my vet for a checkup. I would never put my dog down without a checkup.

Hopefully your vet will be able to give you some help and direction with your girl's issues. :grouphug

Any one else confused?

To the OP- I hope your vet visit reveals something that can be treated.

To the OP, at this point there's a good chance a specialist visit is in order. See your regular vet first, but I would suggest a follow-up visit to a neurologist is warranted as well. There are lots of options for managing incontinence, including special doggie diapers and washable incontinence pads. You could also consider installing a doggie door if you have a fenced yard, or gating her into a room with pads on one side and a bed on the other so she is less likely to lay in her own mess. You might also set up a webcam when you are away so you can determine if she is defecating in her sleep and that's why she's laying in it, or if she stands up to go and it just falls out, or she's consciously going. That information may be useful to your vet.

Good idea about the webcam. Thanks! Yup will see regular vet first and go from there.

Sorry you're confused but no worries cause its not your business anyway. I hate the condescending attitudes. I came on here for support not rudeness.

I think you got incredible support. Sincerely.

Look at your post...."may be putting grey down tomorrow". How were you expecting people to react?

No one is being judgmental or condescending. You neglected to write the options / ideas you were considering (ie: getting a vet check) and based on your limited information, you received generous offers of help.

What is your issue? I've never been 'pointed' on GT but your statements above meet my criteria for rudeness, not those of other posters.

If it is not our business, why did you come here to ask for help? We love Greyhounds and when someone asks for help, people tend to step up out of concern.

When someone asks for help, the rest of us figure that the person posting might not have a lot of experience in that area -- not everyone does. I honestly see NO rudeness not one smidgen, NO condescending attitudes -- nothing but helpfulness and offers from kind hearts. I'm actually horribly saddened that you jump to such completely off base conclusions after you asked for help and received offers of help from good hearted people. Seriously, this isn't a contest... :( :( :(

you said you might be ending your greyhounds life tomorrow because you couldnt deal with her problems and asked for advice. in this thread people gave you advice, offered to talk with you on the phone, and even offered to adopt the dog if you, in your own words, could truly "not take it anymore." no one has been rude, or condescending in this entire thread save for you.

i think you should reconsider your interpretation of these replies are try to be a little more respectful. im sure youre under a lot of stress, but degrading people who are responding to YOUR request for help by very generously trying to help you does not seem appropriate or productive.

Hi lotsofgreysmom, keep hanging in there. I know what you are feeling. Sometimes we feel hopeless and frustrated because we just cant figure it out and the situation seems so scary.

Sending prayers up to you for an answer and good advice from your vet.

I have a 12 year old also. He still has great bladder control thankfully but not always with the poop. Honestly it happens and he just doesn't know. That is much easier to handle than the peeing. You might check in on proin to give her some better control with the peeing. It helped with another dog of mine years ago.

Rainey peed and pooped every single day for the last year of her life (was only 10 too). I KNOW how very stressful, frustrating and tiring it is, believe me. I hope your vet can be of some help.

I would advise NOT to use Proin, I know of several greys who died or nearly died from it. Rainey was on DES since age 5 (and until her brain issues started causing the daily pee, it worked 100%) and I honestly believe it's the much better choice.

sending you hugs and many prayers you can improve the situation! :grouphug

Thanks for those that l offered suggestions and prayers. I do not have an "issue". I was looking for advice and suggestions not people telling me to send them my dog like I cant take care of her or I am going to just go put her down. That is rude.

Would be interesting to web cam. It almost sounds like she is falling into it when she has the accident.....

I feel really bad for your pup and truly hope your vet has good advice and that your pup improves.

The level of conversation here isn't worth having. You are failing to see all the help that was offered and instead you chastise those that extended their hands and hearts. Good luck to your poor girl.

Thank you but it's things like that.....poor girl.....she's not poor girl. She has a wonderful family that loves her sooooo much and that will do anything for her. She's spoiled rotten and has everything a dog needs and more.

And she's had a really good day. I was off work today so I spent the entire day with her, gave her a bath, extra treats and extra potty breaks. No accidents and she's eating very good. Keeping fingers crossed things stay this way. I took off again tomorrow to stay home with her.

But you SAID you were going to put her down and you were at your wits end!!! Ok.. I'm done. All anyone has done is believe what you said. No one but you has been rude here.. I am flabbergasted.
