Guest racergirl435
I've been dreading this day, wondering how I would handle it. I think I'm okay but I likely will break down later when my day is over. My heart hound Seymour passed away from bone cancer on this date last year. My husband and I were both heart broken and we thank our lucky stars that we now have Ike to occupy our hearts, though there is still a piece missing from the loss of our beloved Seymour. He was the gentlest big fella and the best 1st greyhound anyone could ever have asked for. He came into our home and immediately claimed it as his own. He never figured out how to play with toys, but I just think he just enjoyed being retired and didn't want to expend any energy he didn't have to. He was taken from us way too soon, but what beloved animal isn't? He now keeps watch over us in our living room. I find myself looking at pictures and videos of him often, afraid I might forget what he looked like and how beautiful he was. He was such a soulful dog. Seymour buddy, I miss you so so much. Y'all, give all your pets a hug today for Seymour. He was a good hugger. Love Always, Your 2 legged friend Jess

Guest racergirl435
Not really. We just learn to avoid. To this day, we still catch ourselves calling Ike Seymour. I don't think I'm going to be very productive today.
mychip1
My thoughts are with you. The pain in our hearts is just overwhelming sometimes for those we have lost......But, I try to remember how blessed we are to have the memories they leave us with.....and, that we are given the gift of new hounds in our lives to help us heal in some way. Guest racergirl435
Here is a video of him eating his favorite treat - peanut butter. http://s803.photobucket.com/albums/yy313/jkinsey435/Seymour/?action=view¤t=HPIM0620.mp4 This picture was taken by my husband during a particularly different time in our relationship when he commented that I seemed happiest when I was in the yard with the dogs. He was right at the time. In this picture we are taking a break from the "I'm gonna getchya" game. That and chasing his sister were the only times he really played. Here he is with his most pathetic look. He was an expert at that look. I think they teach them that at a young age. Here he is with his sister. They never really cuddled together so any time they were sleeping and touching, we made sure to take a picture. A little goofy look. A threesome! : That's his cat brother Calvin. The first time I caught him on the couch. How could you NOT let that cuteness on the couch? A pic of the pups in the race trailer at the race track. He used to love going to the track. It was always an adventure for him. Another goofy look. One bed just isn't enough! All curled up. A couple of pics on his gotchya day. I have so many more pictures of him but somehow it doesn't seem like enough.

Guest racergirl435
I know he was my heart dog because when he'd lay down, the spot on his left side looked like a heart (see above). My boy. I can't stop thinking about him today.

Charlies_Dad
I remember Seymour's passing....it seems like not so long ago. He was a beauty and left far too soon. Guest azlorenz
Hi Jess, I remember Seymour too mostly because he and Flash looked so much like each other. As the days of summer come to an end, just like you, I can hardly believe it was a year ago that we were on the osteo roller coaster. I know that Flash and Seymour looked at each other at the bridge and said, "hey dud, you look just like me." I'm sure they made fast friends and are enjoying the finer things until we get there. With dread I think of what November 27 will be like for me. I hope I can share the memories of Flash as you have for Seymour.
