Guest FijiHound
Bula! (hiya in Fijian) Well my name is Lisa and I put in an application to adopt a greyhound in August from GAP Australia . Fingers crossed that by December they will match me up with one of these greyt sounding dogs! So by mid January if all things go to plan a new member should be joining my family in Fiji. At the moment I am owned by a terrier x (we guessed) called Scruffy (seriously there was no other name to call this dog, fit her like a glove!) - a stray I picked up off the street almost 3 years ago, vet reckons she's about 5 now. I found her as a bag of bones wrapped up in skin, had my dog whisperer moment and brought her home (she may need to go on a diet now I think hehe) My sister has just migrated to Australia and so I now have her dog and cat. Cassie a german shepherd x who is the loveliest wuss I know people think she 'heels' brilliantly but truthfully she gets worried and wants to be close . She's 8 now and starting to grey a bit. Worried about her being classed as a 'veteran' as two years ago I had to euthanize the first dog I ever had - Sherry, she was 16. Spirit was willing but the body was not. Just realized looking at the pics that their collars are still hanging on the line drying! Must put that on shortly. And finally the cat that I reluctantly have - he's not much fun I think it's because he's 11 and had enough of everyone. His name is supposed to be Curio but he only answers to Cat! Of course sleeping in any place that will cause a hinderance to someone So yes that's me in a nutshell and once I know all about the greyhound you will too! Have learned a lot so far from this forum - my dogs are officially on the raw food diet now and I hope to learn much more as I think I may be the only person in this country who will have a greyhound! MauCarden
Your dogs are adorable! Welcome! We will be delighted to join you on your journey of greyhound adoption--I think GT could win any cheerleading competition. I once owned a terrier mix called scruffy too. Sometimes there just isn't an alternative. Edited November 15, 2010 by MauCarden Quote Missing my sweet girl Scout. My snuggler, my chow-hound, my kissy girl. It never thunders at the Bridge, and your food bowl is ALWAYS filled. So strange not living in Atty World. I was a love struck handmaiden to your every whim. Guest FijiHound
Bula and hi from Philly (USA). Your babies are cute. Scruffy fits. How will you get your greyhound to Fiji? Again, welcome. GAP in Victoria Australia will be taking on a bit of hassle to send him/her to me here in Fiji. Luckily enough the adoption fees cover most things but the greyhound will need an extra shot or two before being sent on its merry way which is why it's taking a little long to match me with one - needs to be cat friendly and be able to cope with being put on a plane! 7 days quarantine is needed though but luckily enough it is only a 10 minute drive from where I live so I can visit everyday. I debated whether or not it was cruel to put one through all of that but after a year of debating and getting feedback from other people who had one sent overseas I have taken the plunge fingers crossed! Guest PhillyPups
If you need any help getting your greyhound adjusted, well you can just fly us in (with 5 hounds) we will be more than happy to help. One-way ticket would work for me. Just thought I would offer If you do TV shows with your hound, can we get links to see it? That would be too cool!!
