Asking For Gt Prayers

Recommended Posts

Mittens has a tumor on her gum and hard palate. She is now undergoing laser surgery to get as much of it out as possible, with a biopsy being sent to a pathologist. The vet seems to think that it's probably malignant. It should take about a week for the biopsy results.

We are picking her up in an hour. I'm sick to my stomach at the thought of losing her. She's 12 and very, very lively and happy.

Please send prayers and good wishes. I know how wonderful the power of GT can be. I will check back in after we pick her up.

Lynn

Mittens is back from the vet. He lasered as much as the tumor as he could get. He also pulled a tooth, which came out really easily because apparently the tumor destroyed the bone holding it. He sent the biopsy out to Mayo Clinic and the results will be back next week. He does think it is malignant, though. I'm trying my best to not think of that yet, but it's hard.

This was our first visit to this vet. We took Mittens to our usual vet last Friday and he didn't want to do anything aggressive. Our poor vet has been through a horrible time of late. His son who just graduated from vet school and who was to take over the practice, died suddenly of a brain bleed while at the office a few months ago. Then his daughter, who was the office assistant, died of cancer three weeks later. I did some research looking for a holistic veterinarian and found this vet, who did the surgery today. We had our first appt today and he said that he'd do it this afternoon, so that was great. Now we wait for the biopsy results.

On a related note, I found out about a new medication that was just released to the public that is used to treat tumors in dogs. It is called Apocaps and was developed by a veterinary oncologist. I'm going to start Mittens on them tomorrow with the new vet's support. They are sold on Amazon.com.

Thanks so much for the prayers and good thoughts. I tried to paste the article on the medication here but it wouldn't work, so I would just use google or amazon.com to research them. The vet who developed them is Dr. Demian Dressler, DVM. He went to Cornell Vet school but now lives in Hawaii.
