Thanks for all the good thoughts. I talked to Demon's oncologist this week. She got the xrays from my local Vet and had her radiologist review them. They agree there is a tumor in Demon's lung and it's 8cm. She says lung mets usually presents as many small tumors. She believes this is a new primary lung cancer, not osteosarcoma lung mets. His previous chest xray was 9/23 and the was clean. She outlined treatment options for lung cancer. The standard is surgical removal alone. Lung cancer doesn't respond well to chemo. With a large tumor, median survival would be 6-12 months. Complicating things is the fact he is less than a year out from his osteosarcoma diagnosis. She also gave alternative options of systematic treatments but they are unproven. The Metronomic Protocol or a new drug that inhibits blood vessel growth that's currently being studied. Both options can cause GI upset. We had tried the Metronomic Protocol with Alex and it was hard on him.

We've decided to give palliative care only. He's gotten a little fussier eating and is getting winded easier. We started him on pred. yesterday and he has perked up some.

Oh, God, I'm so sorry. Cancer, in whatever form, is such a monster. You've tried so hard. I hope you can have as much quality time as possible with your boy.

Kris, I'm so sorry . You were so kind when I brought Quinn home. I wish there was something more I could do for you and Demon. I hope you and Demon have much more painfree, quality time to spend together. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Deb
