Cali's Through The Surgery

Recommended Posts

Had good news after anxious hours of waiting that the surgery is done and Cali's doing well.

She had an allergic reaction to something and her face swelled up, but everything's golden as of now! :yay

We can't go see her tonight, but will definitely be calling later on as well as tomorrow morning.

Dr. Bruce said they'll watch her closely for all the "greyhound stuff" that usually happens in the first couple of days after surgery.

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. :wubsite

This is such a difficult time, but I'm so glad the surgery went well. I hope her recovery is as easy as possible. Please let us know how she's doing.

Not to sound negative or anything, but to caution you to be prepared for how she will look... Our regular vet (didn't do surgery) had told me a bit of what to expect and also told me that I would have a moment where I wondered if we had made the right choice. Despite "knowing" that, it was hard....

For us, we saw our boy 2 days after the surgery and although I was relieved that the surgery was over and knew we had done the right thing for him, it was still rough to see him looking like that. The remaining front leg was wrapped because it was swollen. He was bruised terribly from neck to groin and the skin of his belly was hanging low because of fluids. Our boy was also a bit neurotic, so he also had that totally panic-stricken look in his eyes. :)

We got to bring him home the next day though and already within that 24 hours there was a massive improvement.

I hope you enjoy your visit and that she has a quick recovery!

Just got off the phone with the vet and Cali's doing OK. She still won't get up or eat so I'm going to go see her after work. Hopefully seeing me and my daughter will help her out.
