UPDATE

Cafe is no worse and maybe a little better. There in no new tissue necrosis and the swelling seems to have gone down a bit. She does not have a fever and seems in good spirits and is eating well. I did tell them that if she should not want to eat, to be really worried because she's a chow hound. So, I'm crossing my fingers that things will continue to slowly get better. If there should be any reason for concern, they will let me know and I will take her to the specialist vet hospital. We just need to take it one day at a time.

The vet said that the main concerns were DIC and having to do skin grafts, but at this point, she's holding steady.

Thanks to everybody for your good wishes and prayers. Cafe sends you a tail wag and a lick.

Well...Cafe is pretty much the same. There is more swelling and both external and internal stitches have come open, but there is no more tissue necrosis and it looks ok. Vet said if you didn't see her leg, you would not think there was anything wrong with her, because she's happy and eating well. She is also walking and putting weight on the leg and there is no infection.

Dr. Ross said we are looking at a long time, at least two weeks, before she can come home and a month or so before it's completely healed. They are just going to let the wounds close on their own, and once the inside wounds have closed, we can decide what to do about the external ones. She said we may still have to do tissue grafts, depending on how things heal.

So, I guess I need to be patient, KNOT one of my strong points. I miss my girl. I'll go visit tomorrow before going to work.

Thanks for everyone's continued support. It really helps.

I was checking in for a Cafe update. I'm sure it is very hard to have her away from home for such a long time. It is certainly heartening to read that she' eating and walking and seem generally to be in good spirits.

I am just seeing this now. I don't know what her wounds are, but I am glad that she is improving.

The swelling in Cafe's leg has gone down some today, so we are going in the right direction.

Keeping the prayers coming for continued improvement

Swelling going down is a good beginning. This is so unreal.
