Guest Bocephus
Said goodbye to Marty yesterday and it was so hard. My Mars. You weren't the first dog in my life but you were the first dog that was mine. . . that chose me like I chose you. I was a nervous wreck when you first came home thinking you'd never stop whining and that we'd get kicked out of our apartment because the neighbors would complain. I was so worried I was going to break you, but you were so nonchalant about everything and you took it all in stride and just became the best dog anyone could hope for. You were calm and gentle with kids, you didn't care that the cat beat you up, and I know you were so smart. You knew "left paw" and "right paw" but always conveniently "forgot" unless I had some extra chicken for a treat. Saying good bye to you was the hardest yesterday, but then I came home from work today and you weren't here. You weren't rooing at me the second you heard my key in the door. and we didn't get to have our usual welcome home conversation. No matter how bad my day might have been, you could always make me smile when you "talked" to me when I came home. We only got to be together for a year and a half and you were way to young for me to have to say goodbye, but you made my life so much better. You were there when Kori and I got married, and you were there when we bought the house even though there were all those sketchy hardwood floors. You'd watch hockey with me when no one else would (even if you always slept through the games.) I miss you so much and you were such a good boy. The first day you came home. You didn't quite have the hang of the whole bed thing yet. You weren't very subtle when you wanted something. "Take me outside now, man!" You never met a bag of garbage you didn't like and always let me know when I forgot to take it out. You got along with the cat even thought you did let him boss you around. You were good at sharing. And you were my puppy and I miss you very much.

MP_the4pack
I'm so sorry Nathan. I lost my Topaz at age 5 and it still hurts even though she's been gone almost 9 yrs now. And my Brindle, who passed at 8 yrs old from hemangeo.....she died exactly one year to the day before your boy was born. This helped me when I lost her: Farewell Master yet not farewell Where I go, ye too shall dwell. I am gone before your face, A moment's time, a little space when ye come where I have stepped, Ye will wonder why ye wept. God speed Marty. Guest EmbersDad
farewell marty hopefully this will bring you solace as well. I AM WITH YOU I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ... in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me. unknown
