In Memory Of Misha

Misha was a boss, a queen, the ruler of her roost and every other roost that she graced with her presence. She was tiny, had the face of a puppy but boy did she rule with an iron fist. Everyone gave her respect - from the family that she grew up with and loved her ever so much to the dogs that were more than 4 times her size, nobody challenged Misha. We loved her for her spunk and zest for life even though you had to let her out to pee every 5 minutes and couldn't sit through a meal without hearing her bark and whine, looking down to see her beautiful little face staring at you from between your legs asking if you were done with that steak. She was no angel but she was our dog and we loved her dearly - she made sure of it.

She came to us 13 years ago as a small fluffy puppy that resembled a baby seal wither her fluffy soft coat and her big beautiful black eyes, by 4 months old she owned her first muzzle to keep her from tearing our jeans apart as we walked around and to keep her from attacking any other dog that dared to intrude in her territory. You could never open the door without doing the 'shuffle' because if she got out it was just a game. You'd sit there with a can of cat food chasing her outside as she'd let you get within 3 feet of her and then run a block ahead and wait for you to catch up, only to repeat the process for the next 3 hours. One of my fave stories of this was the night she got out at 4 am after a night of partying, my father running around in the park behind our house yelling for Misha or "kiki" as we called her, waving a pepperoni stick, drunk and in his underwear. The favored way of waking up people in the house was to open the door and let Misha pounce on the unsuspecting victim - she would jump up like a rocket, start licking their face and nuzzling them in a whirlwind of love and then when you finally sat up to love on her she'd start rolling around where you were layng and knock all the pillows and blankets off the bed. There was no going back to sleep after a true Misha wake up call!

The whole neighborhood knew Misha - she was vocal and a strong presence wherever she went, someone you could never forget. The funny thing is despite the fact that she would technically be labeled a 'bad dog' everyone loved her just the way she was. She was a strong lady who loved so much - in fact you got the 'barooo' if you stopped petting her, sometimes complete with a head butt. The kennel she visited whenever we had to go away offered to waive the bill for her and the cat if they could just keep her. Everyone loved her.

Misha went to the bridge yesterday with a little help from my mom after a very brave battle with Lymphoma. She was supposed to pass in May but gave us a good summer filled with steaks, hot dogs and love. She will be missed as you can't help but miss such a strong soul.

Sleep sweet Misha, watch out for Foxy as I'm sure he's terrified right now at the fact that you're now up there - keeping him in line!

I'm sure her loss leaves a tremendous gap. :( But it sounds like she lived every day to the fullest & on her own terms. Godspeed Misha!

It takes special people to appreciate a "diva" like Misha....that's why we're here! I didn't have a diva but I did have Bill....similar traits and I miss him to this day. It sounds like you have nothing but good memories and that helps. I'm very sorry.
