Guest KRKWMU
First off, I just want to say thank you again for all of your good thoughts and prayers. Our journey started this past Monday and yet it seems like it's been a month! We heard from our vet today. He and Dr. Couto were both in agreement as to which chemotherapy protocol to use, and it's the COP protocol. This is a group of three medications- prednisone, vincristine, and cytoxan. I've heard this isn't the most aggressive protocol, but if we can get the lymphoma into remission with fewer side effects yet still have the most amount of time with her, then I'm all for it. BUT, if the least little thing doesn't seem right or if we start to have a lot of trouble, then, believe me, our butts will be driving the however many hours it is to OSU to be seen by Dr. Couto! We've already picked up the prednisone and cytoxan at our local CVS. I didn't know that would happen! We are to begin the prednisone tonight and then Bonnie will be at the vet's office all day on Monday for the first dose of the cytoxan and the IV vincristine. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly. When I was talking to our vet, he stopped and said, "Did I give you all of my phone numbers?". No, I said. He then proceeded to rattle off his home phone number and cell phone number and I already had his email address. He said not to hesitate to call him anytime and to keep trying if he doesn't answer right away! I was dumbfounded! I've been happy with how he's handled things so far (except sedating Bonnie for the FNA). That does make me feel better to know we can call him if something isn't right. So, wish us luck. We'll keep you updated on how Bonnie is doing after the chemo on Monday.

Guest HeatherDemps
Best wishes to you and to Bonnie with her first chemo treatment. We are going through chemo for osteo- a different type of chemo that Bonnie. Not sure if Bonnie will experience the same side effects as mine, but just in case, you may want to have a variety of foods available- mine has become incredibly picky about what he eats now and won't even bother sniffing at kibble.... I hope everything goes well for Bonnie and am glad that she can start treatment so quickly after the diagnosis.
