I haven't posted on Greytalk in a very long time, but I wanted to let those who knew Presto know that he died on Monday, January 14. Presto became ill with Pancreatitis in December. (We learned a lot about this disease and are happy to share what we know with anyone in need.) He was treated by our home vet and an internal medicine specialist, and we were hopeful that he would recover. But, despite all our efforts with medicine and diet he lost so much weight and he was able to eat less and less without getting ill. We were heartbroken, but knew it was time to help him to the Rainbow Bridge.

Presto was my first dog. We adopted him from GPA-Maryland, quickly fell in love with him and the breed, and were inspired to later adopt two more greys, Chico and Lux. He had a wonderful, outgoing personality, and loved all people. (He didn't like non-greyhound dogs so much, and would quickly bark to let us know he spotted one!) Presto traveled far and wide with us, spending summers in Rehoboth Beach, attending Dewey, visiting friends in Pennsylvania, and even visiting family in Alabama. When we relocated to the west coast, he seemed to relish every stop along the way, especially enjoying all the attention he would get in hotel lobbies. He helped us to make many new friends in our new neighborhood in Moss Beach, CA. He enjoyed meeting new people at meet and greets, and hopefully inspired others to adopt.

Presto spent his last few days with us on a trip to Russian River, along with his greyhound companions, Chico and Lux. We are very grateful for his companionship, loyalty, and all the fun adventures we shared. He will always have a special place in our hearts and we will miss him terribly and remember him fondly. Thank you for reading a bit about our boy, Presto.

I am so sorry for your loss. Presto sounds like quite the ambass-a-dog and I'm sure by the handsome and confident looks of him, inspired many new adopters during his travels.

Godspeed Presto... :f_red:gh_run:f_red

I am so sorry for your loss. Our Angel LaceyLaine also had Pancreatitis. Know that our Angels are at the Bridge running and playing and eating ANYTHING they want with no more sickness. :grouphug:f_white

Jeff I am beyoned shocked to say the least.....Presto, oh what can I say, a stunning handsome entertaining greyhound. I am happy that I knew him a little bit. I know this is a difficult time and you miss that silly boy dearly, but he certainly had two of the most loving parents a greyhound could ever ask for. Please accept my deepest condelences.

Here is a picture of Presto from Solvang 2 years ago :blush

I'm so sorry to hear this news. My heart sank when I saw his name. I remember you all from several years ago on GT.

You and yours will be in my prayers.
