Good Thoughts For Nevada Please....

Recommended Posts

Today is another good day. :) She was a little restless last night. She ate well again today. I think that she may be getting a little water obsessive again.......the jury is still out. I spoke to my Vet today. She doesn't think we made her Addisonian. :( So the plan is to wait to see when her cushing's symptoms start up again & then very carefully start low dose Mitotane again. She's going into the Vet on Monday for an electrolyte panel & a check up. Poor Nevada has always been so ultra sensitive to medication. The funny thing- tonight on our walk she wanted to chase a cat.........yeah right Nevada......15 years old with a bad back & a weak legs from a crisis and you think you can catch a cat???? That made my day! At least the interest in life is still there.

So far, so good again today. Her appetite seems good, although not as good as yesterday. She does seem a little quiet & tired today. I think that this whole episode has been hard on her.

She did fall out of my bed last night :omg ........something woke me up & all I could see was her very close to the edge of the bed. The next thing I see is her sliding off the bed & I hear thud! I think that she was dreaming & her movements caused her to slide off. She didn't make a peep. She looked pretty dazed when I got to her. :huh I checked her over & got her back into bed. She went right to sleep again. :sleepy

Do they make doggie side rails for beds?? :riphair:lol

Randy says he feels Miss Nevada's pain! He fell off the bed (my bed) the other night! :eek

Sending lots of gentle hugs and ear scritchies to Nevada and hopefully she'll stay in her bed from now on! :grouphug :grouphug

The siderails are - you remove the mattress to the floor and sleep there, low to the ground. Or, you set up an independent on-the-floor bed. Think camping indoors. I did it for 18mo when my now Bridge GSD girl couldn't do stairs anymore due to hip and then spinal problems.

On the other hand, maybe you just need to stop hogging the bed - our hounds need at least 2/3 to be comfy. :lol

Seriously, hope Miss Nevada continues to feel better!

Nevada had another good day today. And she managed to stay IN the bed last night. I took my body pillow & placed it along the edge of the bed. This worked well to keep her away from the edge & provided her with another thing to snuggle into.

What baffles me is that she has not required any Mitotane for her Cushings. :dunno She'll be spending the morning at the Vet tomorrow, getting an electrolyte panel drawn & getting a look-over. Hopefully the Vet can shed some light..........keeping my fingers crossed.

Nevada spent the morning at the Vet today. Dr Katie gave her a good exam & did her electrolyte panel. Everything looked good on the panel. Her exam was basically benign. She has lost a lot of weight. Dr Katie feels that it's her age & the Cushings disease causing her to fail. It's starting to take a toll on her body & she's showing her age. We've decided to just try & keep her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. It may be two weeks, two months or a year. It's hard to know. If her Cushings symptoms return we'll try low dose Mitotane, but give it with prednisone. If it doesn't work, it may be time to let her go.......I did ask her if it was time to let go now & she said no, not yet.

I was an emotional basket case today. Even Dr Katie started to cry...........

I'm going to enjoy the time that we have left & spoil the heck out of my girlie.
