Guest TriciasZoo
You keep on plugging. It is heart breaking, but in the end you do what is best for Peatie. Skippy is only 5, and everyday you think how unfair it is. Right now, he is doing great, and you would have no idea he has cancer. He sleeps a little more, and pees a little more. Shoot, I have the same symptoms, and I'm expecting. Skippy knows something is not quite right with him, but he doesn't know what. Peatie is probably the same. You will do whats right for Peatie. Rememebr that all he knows is that he loves you, and right now it's harder for you than Peatie. There are options, and you may have some good time left with him. Skippy is on the gentlist meds. that are available, and so far is doing fine. The last meds. made him sick for a few weeks, and for about a month he has been fine. My Mom has got more information (Skippy is her dog). Cry when you need to, and then do what you have to do. Becky Please let me know what Skippy is on. We don't want to do chemo, but do want to try other medications. When does the crying stop? I know I keep asking, but it's because I keep crying. I woke up and it hit me instantly. I just transported 20 ferrets to a rescue that really needed me, and three came home. I should feel good about that, but my stomach aches horridly. I can't eat. I finally drank some milk to try to calm my stomach. Now I'm just going back to bed, since I've been up so early.

Xan
"When does the crying stop?" Who can say when for you? It takes what it takes, honey-girl. Oh, little note about drinking milk, especially since you don't drink it normally: Not your best choice. It will make bile, which you don't need more of, I'm guessing. Try something gentler, like rice (best) or soy milk, or herbal tea, maybe something like a few nuts, a banana. You're going to need to eat right to keep up your own health and energy during this very sad time, to be there for Peatie when he needs you most. Guest TriciasZoo
Thanks Xan, yea, the milk was a dumb idea. The theory was good, but it's been so long since I drank dairy milk. I've settled on what I want for supper, Vegetarian Lo Mein. Don't ask. It's what I'm craving, and that's what I'm having.
Guest KyGrey
Trish, I just now read this thread. I am so, so sorry to hear about Peatie. He's a sweet one that's for sure. You have my number if you want to call. I wish I lived closer. I'd be there in a heartbeat. Know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Guest TriciasZoo
Thanks Patti. If I can find the time while he still feels good, I'll bring him to visit. How about that? You haven't met Flippy yet either. And I now know I can drive 6 hours by myself.

Dr. Couto put Lacers on the Prednision until we could start the chemo. I was however happy when she came off due to her panting and heavy breathing...that really scared me. Hug Peatey for us... Guest TriciasZoo
Thanks Patti. I know how much you like him and Beebs. Beebs has even become braver since you met her. Peatie's Circle of Greys blanket is being sent, and all I can think about is Nellie. It was my trip to see Nellie when I met you. I have decided Peatie will be tattooed over my heart. I met a wonderful vet on COG that had a heart dog that looked so much like Peatie, just not as gray in the muzzle, who got her tattoo on her shoulder. It turned out beautifully. I've left the memory box/urn in Xan's capable hands. This will be the first pet that I've had individually cremated and brought home. Burying him here isn't an option. We don't plan to stay more than a couple years, and even the pet cemetary here, we plan to eventually end up in the Carolinas. So that's not a good option either. I guess Greys have touched me in a way none of my previous dogs have. Not that I didn't love my previous dogs, but these greys do something to us. Xan
Trish, I'm glad you got something from Dr C to let you know he heard you, and will be in touch. He just sounds like at least a dozen wonderful men. Are we positive he's not many clones? That guy is BUSY! Send me ALL you favorite pictures of Peatie. I've got one that I particularly like, but for his box, we need YOUR faves. Kisses and hugs to all your furs, and hugs to you. :bighug Quote My Inspirations: Grey Pogo, borzoi Katie, Meep the cat, AND MY BELOVED DH!!!Missing Rowdy, Coco, Brilly, Happy and Wabi. Guest gr84me
Oh Trish! Hugs to you and Peatie, and prayers that Dr. Couto can help. Getting shocking news like this can turn your body's responses upside down. The figurative "getting hit by a truck" in emotional terms. I think tears and sleep are a protection; if we had to go around with such rawness all the time, I don't think most of us would make it. So please take care of yourself as you take care of Peatie, cry and sleep when you need to right now, and try to do things at your own pace. We are here for you and Patti and everyone else who is going through the same thing, always (GT never sleeps), and we have a never-ending supply of prayers and hugs for everyone.
