  1. Oh no oh no oh no I know she was so dear to your heart, and I felt a connection to her from afar as she arrived in your family's lives as my skin-child Elsie did as well. I am so so sorry for this grief and send my prayers to your family and pack
  2. our grey was/is fearful in our quiet neighborhood, so would definitely just stand there and look for home in the city! I agree as well with the "walk buddy"... he may gain confidence by being with other hounds and following them. It also took our guy more than a year to come into his own, though in some ways/at some times, he is still scared of the world after 7 years with us.

so sorry for this loss of a very special girl prayers for you
  5. At first I was thinking she was cold... but not if she is getting out of bed with you! Panting can equal pain, or she's too hot with you. Could she be hearing something outside, and feeling the need to check-it-out? hmmmm

Oh no... I did not know he was suffering from cancer. Our prayers to you and UPS as you grieve together.
  7. So so sorry for your grief after an amazing time with Pal. And you just lost another yesterday?!? Many prayers for you
  8. If it is a mast-cell tumor it should be easy to remove and get clean margines... not a cancer worth freaking out over, even though that "c" word is in there. If your vet did not even offer or think to do a fine-needle asparate to look at the cells right there, you might wanna consider another vet doing the removal. A mast-cell tumor was what got us to switch vets and now we are much more confident in our dogs' care.
  9. So glad to hear his is coming home and maybe they have a plan to keep his seizures under control... sounds like a great group of vets who took care of him. will keep sending prayers, though!
  10. I missed this until today... I am SO sad to hear of Bill's passing. He brought a lot of laughs to all of us and I am so sorry for this grief to you and your pack. many prayers for you I just went back and read your last Dinner with Bill post so now I'm crying at my desk such love thanks for sharing

what a nice sentiment many prayers for you
  12. Could he be nervous to go in front of you? many greys are shy, so folks have found it helpful to hook a second leash to the first so that their hound can get farther away from them to pee. maybe try that?
  13. Many prayers for you and your family in this time of loss and greif. So comforting to hear of how he passed, surrounded and touched by his people.
  14. so sorry for this loss and grief. many prayers for your pack.
  15. What a great written tribute to her... I feel that I know her just from your remembrances. Many prayers for you in your grief
  16. So glad you've already found some help. Our boy Kingsley was so scared of the world, he was a horrible walker for the first year we had him, and even now, 7 years later, he'll still statue occasionally. For him it is fear, of noises mostly. And we know when we can push him to keep going, and when he needs to just wait for a bit before continuing. We had luck driving him (just down the street) for walks when we fist got him... that seemed to get him out of his zone so that he would just walk.
  17. Our greys don't drink whlie we're out.... so make a mad-dash to the water bowls when we come home... so it could be that type of quirk. And PS-- one of our guys hated the crate and has been fine since we allowed him free-roam of the house... while Ruby loves it and spends most of her down-time in it even when we are home. So, if the crate continutes to cause more stress than it is worth, it is fine to not use it!
  18. So so sorry for this grief and loss... but I, and Ekko, are so thinkful for her long life and her great story-worthy years with you and your pack
  19. "he runs two miles every morning and pulls US" this will not be your experience with they greyhound, most likely.... so may have to walk them separately for a while as the greyhound builds up endurance while still giving Desmond the excersize he needs!
  20. Many prayers for you in this time of grief
  21. oh what tragedy... I am so sorry for this traumatic loss.. many prayers for you
  22. We had the same reaction to a flea-med... so switched... I'd definitely mention it to your vet and try a new heart worm med.
