  1. especially if get asked to ride along to NJ and back in a day. to the hounds and you and mark
  2. I just went and told the parents about it, then put one of the cold/ice packs we used for dad's knee after this replacement surgery, back into the freezer. I am also going to go get some Rescue Remedy, won't hurt to try it when the early behaviors are noticed. It didn't work on our thunder phobic greys, both passed now, maybe it will ease these for him.
  3. I had to stop at the vet's office for another reason so I asked them to check the records on his last one and it was january 29, so approx. 6 weeks ago.
  4. only think is it wasn't raw. It was canned.
  5. same time as the last one. but that was a month ago. no shrimp, but did have some (stolen) salmon juice two days ago. so frustrating to not know what is causing the blasted things. right now he is finally letting the diazepam work and is napping. on the good side, Lottie stayed as far away as she could whilst it happened. And she is feeling better after having had a bad few days with an UTI.
  6. okay, now another reason to cry, like we didn't do enough sunday. Love the pictures.
  7. Dogs are pack animals and only the fittest survive. If a member of the pack goes down, is sick or injured they will usually attack that dog and in the wild kill it. So if one of ours cries or acts injured we keep them apart. At night I keep the two older ones in a different room than the younger ones for safety. Lottie heads for the hills, as did Sprite, when Red is Seizing.
  8. also keep track of what they had to eat before the seizure. Red had seizures and I swear they are food associated, shellfish actually, shrimp in particular. They all seem to up as he is sleeping. waking into a full blown grand mal. His post-ictal phase is short but then I drug the heck out of him to break any cycle before it starts. (extra dose of Pb and 10mg of po valium, with the valium repeating every eight hours for a total of three doses) Had his thyroid checked when he went in for his dental and it was low for a k9 but fine for a GH. His TSH was normal. ETA i just realized i have to change my signature, dang, hadn't cried over her yet today so this starts it.
  9. Diane, our thoughts are with you, Mahogany and your family. Nancy Red & Lots
  10. Thank you so do I. Right now it is messy and Noisy, he is snoring behind me right now.
  11. in my area, Hannaford SUpermarkets alos offers inexpensive Rx's, I think $4. My sister was telling me about it for all her heart meds. Unfortunatly for me, no close Hannafords or Wally worlds.
  12. eight teeth later. $700+ No more raw chicken w/bones for him unfortunatly. He lost both lower molars on both sides, one premolar, and three front, one upper, two lower. Poor boy, very messy mouth when I brought him home. Has Clavamox and Rimadyl for infection & pain. But better gone, if they were in that bad a shape. Course this is when he wants to love on you the most to rub his mouth.
  13. from my phone's camera, yesterday afternoon.
  14. Another of her at Dewey she's seen one of those cats that like to dart across the street. She had really great ears, still did right to the end.
  15. ya know, she never ever physically destoyed anything with us.
  16. Sprite Buff’s Comet Whelped November 4, 1993 Adopted September 1997 Passed on February 29, 2008. She is free from her cancer now, able to run and chase all the soccer balls she can. Run a fence line with the old neighbor’s toy poodles, to chase chickens and eat french fries out of the McDonald’s bag again. She was ready. A lot more ready that I was. this is one of my favorite pictures of her: Because she really had just seen a bunny that bounced out of the undercover after all the other dogs had passed. She outlasted the cancer. Four seperate surgeries, two different locations. Fourteen years, 3 months, 25 days. I'm gonna miss her so much. Love you Sprite, godspeed, run and play with Murphy, Kim and Shine. Tell them that I still love them too.
  17. Very hard choice usually, but sometimes they let you know it is the right time. Just got back from saying good bye to Sprite So I do know so well what you are feeling.
  18. And it wasn't even the cancer that will get her. Old age is. Though the cancer had come back and even if she'd still be spry we wouldn't have done a 4th surgery. Though the EMT get did promote some nice healthy looking tissue until the cancer grew through it.
  19. Leap day - at least it won't be a yearly event Friday afternoon will be the end of her saga, last weekend she decided not to eat for 2 days. She did eat monday, then again something today, a cup of cooked chicken. Last weeks vet appointment she was down to 48.5 lbs. Eyes are still Bright and her ears alert, but she is tired. She is a great dog. http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showto...1&hl=sprite http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showto...5&hl=sprite
