  1. Seriously he is going to be fine! Try the out of the crate stuff. Leave the muzzle on for now. Too bad if he wants it off. Leave and go to the corner store or something and honestly when you get back in about 20 mins you will know how he is doing. He more than likely will settle. If he has proved himself in that space of time then leave him many times tomorrow, exercise him, and then go to your event. Worry cause you will, and I bet he will be sound asleep. You are not in over your head. This is still early days for him and he is still learning to be a reliable household member. I know you get sick of hearing it but you need patience and a longer view point. he will be a great pet and it is your job to teach him to be. It takes time especially for the youngsters. You will both get there and yes there will missteps along the way. If you expect that to be so, you will stress less and be thrilled when they don't happen. Good luck.
  2. Oh this sounds very positive! Good boy Tripp!
  3. Poor Lila and poor your mum! Of course you know Lila is in my thoughts. Give your mum a hug for me. I can imagine how upset she must be.

  5. As said before in your other thread, my first three wouldn't chase anything outside including cats. It will be hard though to do more than muzzle and leash at first for intro's. I would leave the leash on for a good while when the cats are around. If he will take food, when he sees a cat redirect and treat immediately. You will have a good idea when you have him out on a leash whether he wants to take off after a cat. Like I said Jack , Jilly and Josh would be indifferent to the cats and you would know that right away. Good luck!
  6. I have I 'think" 3/4" river rock. Two of mine run over it like it is nothing. Joshy has corns which he developed after the rocks came, and they are torture for him. He walks on the pavers or from bed to bed till he gets to the garden.
  7. None of my three are muzzled when out. I only ever muzzled when Jilly was eating inappropriate things. After she stopped I have only on occasion used muzzles when a particular guest dog was staying. He and Jonah had issues.
  8. I loved Alan and of course remember him!
  9. I'm so sorry. Another star in the night sky.
  10. Such a huge spirit in her little body. I know how much you loved her and will miss her. There are a lot of greyhounds for her to hang with at the bridge and no doubt she is busy whipping them all into shape, healthy once again. to you and John, Deb Susan and the Js

    Honey

She was so loved and so beautiful Marc. I'm so sorry. Rest well sweetheart.
  14. I won't add anything because you have had very good advice. I just wanted to say that of course it is frightening when your new big dog bites and that your wife's feelings are normal. Also very normal that your feelings are hurt. Mine were. But do use it as a learning experience. Many many of us have experienced this when as newbies we made a mistake with our dogs. Dogs that went on to be the loves of our lives and that we would trust completely.
  15. I'm so sorry Nancy. Bandit was such a special girl and I know the place she leaves is huge.
  16. h esounds like such a great cat. I'm so sorry. I had a bed maker helper cat too. making the bed has never been the same since I lost her.
  17. I'm so very sorry Mary. This disease has caused so much pain. The dogs themselves such joy. Run pain free now Arlie and watch out for your family.
  18. It's very difficult to say what exactly is going when we are not there. My Jill was extremely leash reactive but absolutely fine in any off leash situation. The key is the leash and that can be worked with. Sounds like there was something about this other dog that all the dogs were sensing and were prepared to pick on it for whatever reason. That dog should not be at the off leash park. I am not a fan of off leash parks myself but I don't actually see a lot that is particularly unusual in anything you posted. I also see no reason why you should rule out therapy work with your dog. Oh Jill was also completely fine with all the other dogs at her obedience class. She apparently figured out they were her classmates . But would still react to a strange dog walking outside the gate when at class if she was on leash.
  19. I'm so sorry Judy, Mike and Kevin. Gee was a special lovely girl who lived in heaven on earth.
  20. Chris Dude was indeed a special hound. The hole he leaves behind is immense and the world seems a little more dull right now. We will miss him.
  21. Ah dear! Nite Nite Gee. You were loved beyond measure. I'm so sorry Judy, Mike and Kevin.
