  1. My "little old lady" Gypsy fell coming down the stairs this morning. She has stumbled a few times in the last few weeks also. She has been in for her senior check up recently and we know she is getting weak in the hind end. Gypsy also has arthritis and is on meloxicam for that. She will be 13 on Saturday. Fortunately other than scaring the heck out of both Gypsy and I she seems to be ok. I have a plush fleece line collar I can use to assist her, but I think a harness would be better. She really only goes upstairs at bedtime now, she doesn't go up just to follow anymore. Any suggestions for a comfortable harness? My "little old lady"
  2. Unfortunately my Gypsy has done this multiple times. My vet gives her a mild sedative (just enough to make her drowsy). Then numbs the dew claw area and clips it back. Some Tramadol for a few days and she is fine.
  3. Thanks I'll have to look closely at the ones in the store to see if they have rubber to hold the pill in place. I think that is the problem, the one I have is smooth plastic. I will be going to Walmart to drop off the new prescription so I will look at what they have.
  4. My problem is there is nothing that makes the pill say in the "V" the plastic is smooth. I am hoping there is one that holds the pill in place better.
  5. Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent pill splitter? I have two dogs on Meloxicam. One takes half a pill, the other can do one fourth but would be better on one third. The splitter I have doesn't always do an even half I'm hoping someone on here knows of a decent one.
  6. Strawberry creamcheese, liverwurst, raw ground chicken all have worked very well here.
  7. Gypsy will be 13 in July and we have the same food game going. Some days she will barely eat anything. Then some days she will empty her bowl. She will eat cookies or jerky anytime it is offered. She will also eat people food when offered, will pick it out of her bowl and leave the dog food behind. We have found it is trial and error, at her age we tend to try to give her what she wants.
  8. We had a pair for my bridge pup Clark. The size was medium. He tolerated them on walks.
  9. I'm so sorry, I will keep you and BooBoo in my thoughts and prayers. Give her lots of love and take lots of pictures.
  10. Wow, what a mess! Hope you have smooth sailing today.
  11. Saying prayers for Manny's continued recovery.
  12. Are you using the wipes with no alcohol or perfumes? If they have either that could be irritating him.
  13. I'm so sorry! I really hate osteo! Give your boy lots of lovin' and take lots of pictures. My Clark got McDonald's hamburgers and Dairy Queen ice cream almost everyday after his diagnosis.
  14. Have a safe trip! FedEx.... # 63 UPS...... # 101 Wal-Mart. # 127 TOTAL.... # 291
  15. Poor Harley. Went through something similar with Sneakers on Saturday. My link He is on Methocarbamol, carprofen(Rimadyl)and tramadol and "bed rest". Fortunately with him we believe it is a pulled muscle. He is already back to roaching. We did not do x-rays at the Referral Center (E-VET) and due to his improvement my vet opted not to yesterday when I had him in for a recheck. Hope Harley starts to feel better soon!
  16. Check the price at Walmart for anything not on the list by calling and ask if they carry it. I get Gypsy's sulfasalazine there at 1/3 what I would pay at the vet!
  17. Sneakers is already feeling better! No more yelping when he lays down. Took him for a short "pee mail" walk as he isn't to happy with leash walking in the yard. Will still make an appointment with our regular Vet just to be safe.
  18. Left to get DH from work and run a couple of errands, I had 3 healthy pups. Came home and Sneakers was not his usual exuberant self. He was not trying to help open the crate door, nor was he in a hurry to get out. When the pups came back in from potting he cried out when he went to lay down. I checked him over and didn't see anything. Checked his crate and noticed he didn't eat all the goodies in his Kong. He was very restless and couldn't get comfortable. Of course our vet was closed, so off to the Referral Clinic. The vet there checked him over and found an area on his back that was very painful. So he is on "bed rest" for 4 weeks pain meds and muscle relaxant (fortunately I already have Tramadol at home). They said I could wait and have my regular vet do xrays so I will call on Monday. Hopefully it's something simple like he just pulled a muscle.

  20. Poor Gypsy broke her dew claw again. Poor baby seems to do this once a year. Wish I had known this years ago and I would have had them removed! Called and got her in first thing this morning. My Vet is so wonderful! I waited in the exam room while they took care of her. Dr Jeff carried her back into the exam room so she could wake up with me. He said he knew she would be happier with me. She is doing fine now and sleeping all snuggled in a blanket her at home. Wish all the breeders would have dew claws removed!
