  1. Poopbag still in tree Winslow is feeling fine. The toe does not bother him! btw -- today Glynis is prepping the basement where they will stay for a few weeks while Winslow heals. I'll let you all know when I get an update!
  2. The statistics show that if you do not do chemo you have around the same as if you did not amputate which is 4-6 months. With chemo, the last time I checked, the expected length of time, averaged, was 14 months. Some are shorter with chemo, some longer. I know Max & Bosha went 3 years and Winslow is at 2 1/2 and there are quite a few with longer than the average. Osteo is a cancer that will mestastasis. That is what the chemo stops--in case it has already begun. This is from a human site, but explains metastasis.
  3. I believe you have answered the question for yourself Funny, but I've seen it and I've said it many times: dogs adjust. They have no preconceived ideas about "handicaps". They do what they need to survive. As you have said, she is already not using the leg. This is a big plus. She will be fine. It's you that needs hugs Sending many prayers the surgery goes well!
  4. Please give my sympathy to all who loves him
  5. I'm sorry to hear. I know you love him very much. What a gorgeous guy! Sending my sympathy
  6. I emailed Glynis a reply and told her of course it was strange, it's Winslow and that I was pretty sure Dr. M would want to remove what is left. She responded: I've been keeping my eyes open for a little tumor running around (you know, eyes and legs, laughing and squealing at all of us). Maybe if I can trap it, I'll take it to Dr. Massat for a biopsy. Or, let Winslow keep it for a pet.
  7. June 21, 2009Hi Diane, I have attached photos of Winslow's foot. It appears that what was a purple pea shaped tumor (like a purple raised mole) has now become a crater. If you enlarge these you can get a really good look at it. Remember, I said I could see the tumor inside when the top ruptured? It was like that on Friday when I took him to Dr.C. Sat. night I went to check it (it's still not sore and it hasn't been bleeding) and the tumor is missing!? Could it have fallen out? Note that there is kind of yellowy stuff at the center. That is not pus.. It's Neosporin and Animax. I've been rotating them since the beginning to ward off infection.. This thing actually looks like it's healing up. I have absolutely no idea what is going on here. I don't know if I should be terrified or happy. I sent these photos to Dr. Massat and I guess he will decide that for me. Even if the tumor fell out, we are still going to NH because I think there would still be margins to deal with. I guess? Again Dr. M. can decide. I just hope I don't find it in our bed. G.
  8. Will he eat boiled or roasted chicken? Easy to digest. Sending prayers!
  9. Give the little Mexi a hug from me Limited discussion here: http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showtopic=232530
  10. I'd skip any shots re vaccines. Have you done a TBD panel on him?

  12. June 19, 2009 Hi Diane, Well, Winslow is booked into a brand new Hampton Inn in New Hampshire.. Oddly he raced there, at Seabrook. Says he prefers the Hampton Inn. He plans to spend his recovery time (We are staying a few days) luxuriating by the pool. He wanted to Wow all the ladies with his swimming skills, but since he can't go in the water, he will just be showing off his great bod. He's also been asking about how many pillows and what kind of sheets will be on his king size bed. Asked me if I checked the thread count. Wants me to call them again to find out. Says he wants to ride in the "ding ding box" so he hopes we are on the top floor (Winslow LOVES elevators). We are on the 1st floor but I promised him some rides anyway. We will be packing his beloved travel fan. I don't get 2 changes of clothes... we need fan, dog food extra dog bed, bowls and all of Winslow's other stuff. I'll be lucky if I can take a spare tire after he's done packing. He's going to spend this weekend socializing with (and shedding on) friends and just having himself some good fun. We thank everyone for their care and concern! We are believing that this is just another chapter in Winslow's Diary and there will be many more to come. His vets are superb, Dr. Couto has consulted with me, you and Marilyn have kept me sane. Winslow has special angels Ember and Queen Winnie watching over him and Darcy sending vibes of love from her big, beautiful eyebrow, and everyone on GT who laughs with us. I'll be in touch, Glynis
  13. Sending lots of prayers. Day by day entries in Winslow's Diary thread.

Sending my sympathy What a sweet boy.
  15. June 19, 2009 Lung xrays look clear They will be read by a radiologist. Blood taken. Winslow will be driving to New Hampshire on Tuesday for Wednesday tumor removal by his surgeon, Dr. Massat. Because the tumor is fairly high on the digit, his oncologist doubts the toe will be removed. Most likely Winslow will have radiation to clean up anything nasty left, since margins are quite high for that area of the body (i.e., hard to get the margins on a toe/foot). Winslow loves road trips. I hope he still does after this is over
  16. It's a spindle cell something cancer. Winslow will go to the vet tomorrow for preop blood work and chest xrays. A plan will be formulated at that time. Please remember Winslow, Craig & Glynis in your prayers that this all works out. Hopefully it will be toe be gone and he will be fine!
  17. Looks like he has stayed pretty even over the last 5 years. I don't like the drop in platelets but I am a platelet fairy. HCT looks good. Has he had a TBD panel done? I don't know about the protein. All of my seniors run protein in their urine and as long as the BUN/creatine ratio is ok we ignore it. The red blood cells in the urine indicate an infection, no? Did they do a urine culture?
  18. Did he get sick in WI or at the track (I can't remember), maybe it doesn't matter as the track is in WI too, right? Does OSU know that several greys in WI have had fungal infections?
  19. I am more of a believer as time goes by Pablo goes for his 3rd session on the underwater treadmill and adjustment this Saturday! I'll post a video in a separate thread when vet gives to me.
  20. Can't believe it's been 2 years since this was bumped up!!!
