    Comet

Sending my sympathy Thank you for sharing him with us.
  2. Great news!!! Sending lots of prayers the chemo goes well.
  3. I am so fortunate here in Houston--good alternative vets. Every dog that goes in for any procedure that requires going up on the table -- I schedule a chiropractic appointment a day or two after (acupuncture will work too). Sending lots of prayers.
  4. Did the vet give you the supplements? I assume Chinese since she is talking about Yin or is it ying?) being defficient? Did she do acupuncture? Is she certified by IVAS or CHI Institute? I have two vets that talk "chinese medicine" with me and I just nod and say uh-huh
  5. Sending my sympathy Please give Shawn a hug from me. I've had it happen (my Dobe girl) and I know how it feels
  6. Even once a week can compromise the kidneys. How about adding Joint Health?
  7. Is he on any NSAIDs? They will affect kidneys adversely many times.
  8. p.m. Greytlady94 I think that is what her girl had.
  9. Sending my sympathy I can see her running those puppy raising classes in Rainbow Land -- all the pups saying "oh no, we got Miss Gremlin!" As much as it hurts, they sure do leave a lot for us to hold on to, don't they?
  10. Sending my sympathy Doesn't matter how long they are with us, it's never long enough
  11. Well, poop! Hopefully they can put just a soft cast on. Do not let them do a hard cast!!!! Make sure they know what they are doing re greyhounds.
  12. Sending lots of prayers. I assume they are giving her shots to help with the vomitting......and lots of stomach meds. It would be a good idea to scope her now, before she gets any worse.
  13. Huston had a hoo hoo infection a few years back. Put him on clavamox and did the hoo hoo rinse with chlor something (light blue liquid--I'll check the bottle when I get home). Stayed away a long time and now we have to do the rinse again -- glad you reminded me (I think )
  14. If you do have his thyroid checked, do a full panel at Michigan State. That way you will know for sure.
  15. Please don't. He'll only tank up when the opportunity arises. It sounds like the issue is, as you know, is that he won't pee/won't pee enough in the morning. How big is the yard? Do you stay out there with him? The large crate is fine and a smaller crate will not help and could possibly hurt. Please explain to your DH that he is peeing in the crate because he needs to, not because he wants to. Welcome to my world :lol For some reason, I have always had at least one barker or screamer in the bunch. I could never sneak in my house....
  16. What a shock Sending my sympathy......
  17. Clavamox or clindamycin -- I've used both.
  18. Sending my sympathy and hugs to you all
  19. After doing more reading, I wonder if the Merial used was the TF or no? What about the others? i.e., thermisol free Maybe that is the common factor -- that the offending vaccines contained thermisol?
  20. There are 3 dogs, all within a few months. Granted we have a lot of dogs on here, but three we heard about -- how many haven't we? Could it be a coincidence? It could, but maybe it is the vaccine. I see that two of the greys only had the rabies vaccine that day. I know that the rabies vaccine is the one with the most reactions. <very big sigh>
  21. Interestingly, I asked my vet just today about the rabies vaccine they use. I was told mfg by Merial and they would not use the rabies vaccine made by Pfizer. However, I think she also said Ft. Dodge, which if they have been purchased by Pfizer means they do. Dr. Feeman: We use Rabdomun... manufactured by Pfizer but distributed by Schering Plough. So, does anyone else think this is confusing???? The one thing I learned long ago, was never give the vaccines on the same day -- split them up, and never give them on the same day they go under anesthesia.
  22. According to Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI), the nation's oldest and largest provider of pet health insurance, here are the Top 10 items that are surgically removed from pets: Top 10 Surgically Removed Items 1. Socks 2. Underwear 3. Pantyhose 4. Rocks 5. Balls 6. Chew Toys 7. Corn Cobs 8. Bones 9. Hair Ties/Ribbons 10. Sticks The cost of treatment for this type of problem can be expensive. It ranges from $800.00 to $1,740.00 depending on the severity of the illness and extensiveness of the surgery. This is a lot of money, but the surgery is necessary to save the pet's life. This is taken from Dr. Jon's email newsletter If I remember right, vets consider cow hooves as rocks.
