  1. Take him to the vet asap. Tramadol is an alternative. Many greys seem to do ok on oral Metacam and as a NSAID it has half the serious effect of adverse reactions as rimadyl, deramaxx and etogesic. Every dog is different. If he is given a NSAID, you should do blood work to check liver and kidneys.
  2. Email me and I will send you all the greyhound handouts for the vet. <sigh> It's amazing how many vets are not up on greyhounds. Burpdog@msn.com
  3. If anyone wants the medical handouts Dr. Feeman wrote, email me and I will send them to you, Burpdog@msn.com I would not put one of mine on PPA especially with a UTI. I'd look for another vet for at least a second opinion. Money wise, a blood panel will cost around $100, urinalysis $45 (in house) and clavamox at the vet's office around $56 for 7 days, so $112 for 14 days which is usual treatment.
  4. I wish I had something profound to say You can add morphine to the pain meds and neurontin if you want to try for some good days.
  5. August 21, 2007 I was painting all morning, supervised of course, by the critic with the big nose. After I got finished, Winslow had to show me how it's really done. Of course, he cranks out 2 masterpieces, just like that! He swears he's related to Jackson Pollock, or at least, his dog. He says you can have one of these for the auction.. I'll add some photos of him at work and of course, he'll sign it for you. Glynis
  6. I wonder if he soaked it if it would work. Sending more prayers.
  7. Hi Diane, I was looking at some old photos of Winslow and it became obvious why he is so hot. The chemo must have done something to make him grow all of this hair. It's truly amazing. Look at the before and after. His hair is growing longer and he's not shedding. He's so very soft and FLUFFY! Yikes! he's going Borzoi ! Glynis

  12. Don't know. Did you get it from the vet? For nausea from the chemo?
  13. Which doctor? An orthopedic vet? In rereading this: first, if the screw is loose it probably should come out. Second, there should be no need to rebreak the leg.
  14. Trying to remember, but I think it's suppose to move through the stomach in 5-6 hours. I have had happen what you mention. For some reason it didn't move on through. No chance she ate something she shouldn't have, is there?
  15. Fresh Factors is chondroitin made from bovine (do not use shark cartiledge in any brand). Fresh Factors Mizzy gets Joint Health & Fresh Factors as she is a senior.
  16. With all the choices mentioned--please remember she has IBD and all that stuff could just set her off again. I would keep it simple.
  17. CBC will not tell you. Not all dogs have a decreased platelet count or red blood count or increased white blood count. Also, found out something interesting. On a PCR many greys tested postive for e ewingii There is not a test for it specifically re blood draws. I wonder if this is why so many greys test "negative" yet respond to doxy. I have to double check, but I think the group tested was in Iowa. E ewingii is transmitted by the lone star tick. I'll update probably tomorrow as I am going to try & talk with Dr. Holland at Protatek. Consult: greyosu@osu.edu
