  1. Good thoughts for Duffy &you & Marc. Will keep him in my thoughts.
  2. If you join the K9-EPIGLOBAL yahoo group you can order the enzymes for much less that any where else as well as get a lot of good information from ther owners of dogs with these problems. Your vet can also contact TX A&M for lots of good help as they are doing major studies on animals with these problems. Also have your vet check the B12 levels that cause SIBO as the treatment is a little different. You need to feed a low fat,no grain food- Dick Van Patten Limited ingredient foods are good. It does take a while to get things to settle down but can be controlled. Noelle, my whippet, is doing very well now that I've fount the EPI group and most people don't realize she has a problem. Good luck.
  3. All paws crossed for Sadie & hugs to you for north TX.
  4. Get well wishes for Murphy-that looks terrible, almost like he was cut in half!
  5. Yes a high fat high fiber diet will irritate the pancreas. Avery good food is the Dick Van Patten limited ingredient foods. These are good for all dogs and they like the flavors. If you do go this route you can contact DVP and get signed up for their free bag deal. Sorry for the double post

  7. Glad to see darling Mokka is doing so well. Love your captions!
  8. Noelle is my Whippet foster that has EPI & is a diabetic, this is why she's not spayed yet. It's been hard enough to get the EPI controlled & being a diabetic makes it extra risky to do any surgery. It's just a miracle that she's alive and each day is a true gift.
  9. Due to Noelle medical problems she has not been spayed & at 2-1/2 yrs old she has come into heat for the first time. I haven't had an intact female since 1977 so I've forgotten what it's like! This is her 3rd week of being swollen, stinky and spotting so how much longer do we have? I've found a nice vet that is willing to run her blood work, give her a complete check up & if possible say her this summer. I do remember that she will come in heat again in 6 months if not spayed. Poor girlie wants her regular life back so everyone will leave her bottom alone!
  10. Sky had a seizure one morning so my SIL & I put her in a crate. Sometime during the day she had an other one & got her ear badly torn. When she had one a few days later outside I stood guard over her with the hose while all other dogs were taken inside. Not all dogs will go for the seizure dog but a lot will. The old corgi sits queitly beside the seizing dog & checks the dog all over when the seizure ens. Shorty has lived with 3 seizure dogs & always acted this way. Luckily Sky has now beeb seizure free for a year but we watch her closely. Always seperate the dogs when you are not around just for safety.
  11. Noelle takes human insulin 2 shots a day. It did take a while to get her regulated & she gets 3 meals a day to keep her levels steady. I had to give her nutri-cal or honey to break seisure activity. Good luck.
  12. Annie has been on the diet food & does get cranberry added to her water sometimes, I was hoping for something other than the food from the vet, having to buy another special food is going to be hard. Noelle & Carmen are now eating Taste of the wild Venison/Bison due to allergies for Carmen & Noelle's EPI/EIP issues. I wondered if the is yahoo group for people with dogs like this where I could get some more information. I do know Annie's mom does cook rice & veggies for her & gives her yogurt also. Since she uses the same vet we do I know she's been checked out carefully.
  13. We are getting a return next week that has some urine crystal formation problems. She's coming back because her owners are moving to Colorado & Anne gets cold there! Don't start- I've already thought of lots of things to say!! She is one very spoiled doggie but I can't spoil her the way they do as I don't have enough money & our group sue doesn't. I know about cats with urinary problems but not dogs so any ideas would be appreciated. Anne is a small fawn, much like Cathy's Hope, who does NOT like cats & I know she will be unhappy not being the only dog in the house but that can't be helped at this time.
  14. So glad to see she's home & I bet the others are happier now too.
  15. She was beautiful & picked the right Daddy. I'm sorry for your loss.
  16. Sorry to see this. Hugs to you & the girls.
  17. Lois I remember meeting her at Race the Wind. She was so sweet. I'm sorry for your loss but I bet she found many friends waiting for her at the bridge.
  18. Good for you Saint!! Yes, we needed good news.
  19. Get well wishes from one Kasey to another. My poor girl has ripped anear & cut her side just walking around the yard. My girl isn't usuallya clutz but if she's following a sent she does run into things. Give both beautiful girls a hug & ear scritches for me.
  20. I have a diabetic whippet foster & it did take a while to get her insulin level adjusted & now she just goes in for check ups every few months. She know when it's time for her shots & will go to the kitchen to wait while I get the needle ready. It's a good idea to keep a tube of nutri-cal or honey on hand in case he starts to go into shock so you can get the sugar into him quickly. My vet has me feeding 3 meals a day & we were on 4 a day for a while until her level was regulated. If you want more info or just to compare dogs just PM me
  21. Lori, I'm sorry to read this. Hugs to all. Run free Tasha
