  1. I am so glad to hear how much better he is doing! I am a big believer in science, but I know science and western medicine don't have all the answers, so if the thyroid medicine is working for him, that is what he needs.
  2. Thank you for posting your update. I think it is wonderful that you were able to make things work with Joe. As you said, (ok, maybe I am paraphrasing ) one of the key points was accepting Joe for who he was, even if he wasn't the dog you had envisioned. Also recognizing that it was a huge investment, financially and emotionally, and not everyone is able to make that investment. Congratulations to all your family!
  3. Glad to hear he continues to improve! IBD can be a lifelong struggle, but it is manageable. Once he is recovered, you might try the manuka honey, it was great for helping prevent flare ups with my IBD boy.
  4. That is definitely good news! It can take several days for the edema to go away, the rest sounds very promising
  5. hoping for an improvement today! sounds like you have an excellent team, giving him every chance!

I am so sorry, he sounds like he was a real "personality"
  7. It is a hard decision, but that is what I did with Molly. At 11 1/2, I wanted the time she had left to be as good as possible.
  8. All I can tell you is what I would do if it were my dog. I would transfer him to a specialist and give him a chance, at least until you know what is causing this. If it it something treatable, he is young enough to have a good chance of recovery.

    I am so sorry
  10. Hearts are more muscle than organ, so you could dehydrate those for sure. I know you can dehydrate liver as well, but some other organs may be too soft, I'm not sure. You are lucky in your friends
  11. Nice friends! You can dehydrate them if you want, but raw is just fine, and a lot easier
  12. Such a beautiful girl! Those broodies know how to get what they want. I am so sorry you did not get more time with her.
  13. Hope it is just a minor injury and the metacam will take care of it. Too bad about the training plans!
  14. What a cute face! I am so sorry for your loss
  15. I am so sorry No matter how many you have, there is a special kind of pain when you lose your first
  16. Charley makes that horrible gaking noise too. I have only had her for a few months and don't know her medical history, but as far as I can tell, she is just "clearing her throat" I would say it was too loud for that, but I have listened to myself in the morning, hacking and coughing to clear out my overnight congestion, and it sounds very much the same Charley is also raw fed, her poops are fine, she seems perfectly healthy, so I am just watching her for now.
  17. I would do it but I am a sucker for Broodies
