  1. Thanks for the input, it seems like the poor pup will have to go to the torturinarian
  2. No, his foot hasn't been x-rayed as last time it healed fairly quickly. I am wondering if an x-ray would be useful as if it is not metal or rocks, it will probably not show since it is very small, would it? (i.e. glass, wood) Hey a Kiowa pup! Glad to meet one of his >3000 siblings That would make a great party wouldn't it?
  3. Oh Chris, I was hoping you would change your mind maybe hahaha. Ok so I will continue the soaking and see how it evolves. It hasn't changed since March so that is why I find that strange if it is a foreign object. Hopefully it will resolve by itself and we will investigate more if need be... In the meantime, if anyone thinks of anything else we could do, let me know!
  4. Hi all, I need some wisdom. Jack hurt his paw in March-April and there was a little break of his pad. He was limping of course, so we soaked his foot, put some antibiotical cream and covered it when he was walking outside. It took maybe 2 weeks and the limping was gone, he was walking and playing normally, but there was always a little dot that stayed there, that we assumed was a kind of scar. When he got hurt, we could not get anything out, there didn't seem to be any foreign object either. Last week-end, he ran like any other greyhound, but ran on some rocks and started limping again. Turned out the problem comes from the exact same pad as last time and same area. coincidence? I don't think so. This time, there isn't any break of the skin, no swelling that we can see. He uses his paw to some extend, but when running, he will run on 3 paws. If we press on the region, he yelps, it doesn't come from the leg or anything, it is really the pad. My question is : What is it and what can we do? We don't feel like it is a foreign object, unless something stayed in there from last Spring, in which case wouldn't it have bothered him beforehand as well? We don't feel like it is a corn as there is no definite edge. Although he walks better on grass than any hard surface, but it came a little bit sudden to be a corn. Can greyhound gets wart, and did he step on something that could have triggered pain? Thank you, here are some pictures of the pad Post-soaking Pre soaking and side
  5. Thank you Always check and recheck labels!
  6. It wasn't a problem for us, until a few weeks in. Then he threw up some bile one morning and that was the call to add a bedtime snack No problem ever since!
  7. Yea maybe! Ours go the whole day without a pee, but we have to go out 3 times during the evening, just because that is when he is active. It used to be ok going only twice, but now we need another pee break. You will figure each others schedule, don't worry
  8. Ohhhh we had that, if he was playing prior to this, most probably a pee. Playing makes them pee, eating makes them pee, basically anything other than sleeping makes them pee We always go out after a play session no matter what, it became a rule quite quickly here
  9. Congrats on your new addition I hope you have enough space on your camera!
  10. Ours wouldn't even go out for a pee in the first few days Activities can wait. Going for walks (if he is willing) is a good bonding activity as is training him and teaching him stuff The easiest ones are his name and "down".
  11. He has no idea who you are. Give him a little bit of time and he will blossom in a new dog in a matter of days/weeks. I read on here that greys in their new house changes at 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months and we have found that to be very accurate. Don't worry, let him be, he will pick up his new routine quickly.
  12. Totally normal hahaha Everything is so new! It took ours maybe 2 months to stop sleeping ALL. THE. TIME.
  13. No advice on the jumping issue, but when we first got Jack, he would bark at us when we came back home. So whenever he barked, we left again, only to re-enter a few quiet seconds later. If we entered and he was quiet, he got a cookie. That taught him that barking made us leave and being quiet got him a cookie. Maybe something like that?
  14. Took us 2 weeks to be able to do the full "loop" walk when walking as a pack (all the household member together) and almost a month for me (his momma) to be able to walk him for the full loop. It started getting better when I stopped trying. We came to a gentleman agreement that he would pee, then poop, then walk as far as he would and when he froze, we headed back home. Ultimately we were able to walk further and further and one day we did the full loop with minor freezing (I mean we were literally 30 meters away from home, I wouldn't have turned around!) Hang in there, it is all normal and overwhelming for him
  15. Jack started this this summer. We have had him for 7 months now and figure that since he spends the whole day snoozing on "his" bed downstairs, it must be the place where he feels most comfortable. And so he sleeps there at night too. But he usually comes and join us before midnight. Apparently, there is a monster downstairs that comes at midnight
  16. Adaptil collar worked really well for Jack when we first got him It worked for about 3 weeks though.
  17. Ohhhh welcome Percy! , he is adorable!
  18. To you both, Cooper was lucky to have you
  19. Adaptil and yes we have seen a difference! We tried both the collar and the diffuser, and Jack seemed to notice right away that something was different and his anxiety dropped down (not erased) they came back when the diffuser/collar were almost empty.
  20. hahaha dirty old man, I'll be careful when meeting him! Welcome Coopernikis!
  21. She is adorable! Congratulations!!!

  23. Good luck! I am sure you will both come through with flying colors!
