  1. We've had Frannie for 4 years now. She started whining from the first day she came here. She whines to eat, she whines to go out, she whines if her blanket isn't just right, she whines when her blanket is just right, she whines if I don't go to bed at a certain time every night... If everything in her world isn't just right she whines. Sounds like he's just settling in but if not and you've got a sweet whiner, eventually you'll be able to read his whines and whether or not to pay attention or just let him whine to keep himself happy!!
  2. Could be anal gland too - she might need them expressed.
  3. Sure, Petzlife spray would work for him and it will help his remaining toofies too. It has a great smell and they seem to like the taste. Sweet old bugger...
  4. Another sweet older gent finds the perfect home! You have a heart of gold for doing this. Do well old boy and enjoy all the love that's coming your way!!
  5. Rest well sweet old boy. You only stayed a little while but it was probably the best 'while' of your whole entire lifetime. So sorry, thank you for all you did for him in his short time with you.
  6. Haven't tried the Skin and Coat oil but did try the Longevity. It kind of has an 'algae' smell to me. We went back to the Advanced Hip and Joint tablets.
  7. Sweet, old boy... I was hoping he'd last just a little longer for you but you did good by him and let him go when you knew it was his time. He was deeply loved in his last months by caring people that took such good care of him and let him live out his last days in happiness and joy. Bless your hearts for making it possible. Rest well pretty little one, and remember the ones down here on earth that will miss you so deeply.
  8. Our boy hated the bromide too. I tried putting it in his food but then he refused to eat. I finally resorted to just squirting it on a piece of bread and shoving it down his throat - I know, sounds cruel but that's the only way I could get it down him. I always did it right before his meals (morning and night) and then we'd feed him right away so the horrible taste of the salt was washed down. Yup, there are pills and that's easier but if your boy is like ours, we had to regulate the dosage so often that the liquid just worked better for us.
  9. What a lovely face that little one had. Rest well pretty girl, knowing that you will be loved forever.
  10. Take it off. Doesn't look right. Frannie's had these on and off. Most were ok - one turned out to be second grade hemangiosarcoma. Do it quickly and see if they can get clean margins so you don't have to have that second surgery.
  11. We've been using the Denta Sure for about a year and a half now and I really believe it's done a better job. Can't really say for positive though because at the same time we started giving Frannie coconut oil, fish oil and Fresh Factors every day too so I'm not really sure if it was the tooth paste or a combination of that and the additives that is keeping the tarter away now but I'm sticking with the Denta Sure.
  12. Noooo.... I am so sorry for you and Grammy Jey. Rest well sweet girl, you had one of the best homes possible in the whole world. What a heartbreak for you.
  13. I tried Natural Balance with two of my greys once and both had huge poops and about 4-5 times a day. It was the potato and duck formula. The amount and size never decreased so I took them both off Natural Balance completely. Right now we're on Taste of the Wild. Tried the bison and then we ended up with constipation. Tried the fish formula and the constipation got worse. Finally went to the lamb formula and have been on that for 2 years now with nice, solid poops all the time, but that's just the formula that has agreed with Frannie. A lot of greys can't handle the lamb based foods but have you looked into any other of the Taste of the Wild formulas? Seems to have worked the best for us. Poop stuff....what a headache it can be to figure out!
  14. Aaah, so that pretty little boy is getting comfortable over there. Well darn, can't be perfect all his life Jeni!! I'd say either go back to kenneling him again or put the muzzle on him. He's still a pup and he's looking for something to fill his time when you're away. Don't feel bad about using the muzzle. Most of them pretend that they all hate it but it's not going to kill him and it will save your house in the long run. I'd kennel him for a while yet. If he's good with kenneling just put him in there. After he gets a little older and more adjusted, try again. See what happens. By then he might be out of his fetish with chewing on pillows and it will go better. Give that beautiful fawn pup a hug from me - and one for Rosie too.
  15. Try doing it 2 or 3 times a week until you can get them under control. A little at a time so you don't nick the quick. The quick will recede a little every time. We use a dremel here and do Frannie's twice a week. She's not one to like her nails done so I only do a little at a time a couple times a week and she's good with that.
  16. Welcome home sweetheart. Happy birthday and be well!
  17. Three of our older ones have had the 'mushy' feeling lumps. Turned out to be nothing in all of them. Have it checked for peace of mind.
  18. Our first girl was a marker. It got to the point that when we were on a walk, all she'd have to do is hear a dog bark and she'd squat down and pee. She was our 'in charge' girl, always, no matter what.
  19. This is the hardest part - letting them go when their mind is willing but their little body just won't cooperate. I wish your sweet one a gentle passing. I am so sorry.
  20. Yup, sounds normal to me. Frannie's day consists of sleeping all she can. She only gets excited when it's walk time, dinner time or a day at the Meet and Greet at Petco. I used to think that mine were bored too but we've had seven and they all pretty much acted the same way. He's not bored, plus he's got a beautiful kitty to keep him company too and that sad look on his face? Completely normal. I always like to call it the look of love. He's fine.
  21. We have a nine year old girl that pants a lot too. If it's above 70 degrees in here she starts in. We have the airconditioner on most of the summer because I hate the heat too. We had to put a fan in front of her kennel because even with the air on sometimes she's just not comfortable. We go for a walk every night and she pants really hard for about a half hour and then it starts to taper off. We don't walk far, about 4-5 blocks. She pants after she's played with her stuffie in the living room. She pants when she runs from the living room to our T.V. room (small house so not very far). She pants after she's run up or down our steps. She pants when she's nervous. She pants when she's excited. She's been checked. She's just a heavy panter, but it does put the fear in you that something might be really wrong.
  22. Sure, we've been using the Dentasure for about a year now and I can honestly say that it's worked the best out of all the toothpastes we've tried over the years.
  23. He's missing his friend and grieving. It's normal for dog's to lose their appetite and just seem lethargic or not interested in too much after the loss of a friend. My guess is that he will be just fine after his new friend comes home to live. In the meantime, take him for more car rides and more walks if that's what perks him up. So sorry for you losing two sweet ones so close together.
