  1. Yes, they mentioned that but I'm hesitant to try it. It can work both ways and at this point, I don't want to go the wrong way! You might know - the first greyhound we've ever had that has consistently rock hard poops no matter what she eats and she ends up having to have this surgery. Aaaack!
  2. Thanks everyone. Anal gland removal - pretty sore heinie...
  3. What's a good stool softener for dogs?
  4. Wonderful news!! You have a new little firecracker to keep you busy - and if I know my little black females, she will. So good to see that you've opened your heart and home to another sweetheart. Let the fun begin! She's a dolly!
  5. Thank you so much for your answer, I'm trying to gear up for everything possible. Frannie says thank you too.
  6. Ooooh, thank you - that makes me feel a lot less anxious.
  7. Our little Frannie has been dealing with dermal HSA since April and now they've found two growths on her left anal sac. She goes in Tuesday for a CT and if everything looks ok, they'll remove the sac. Has anyone gone through this? If so, how did the recovery go? Just a little (a lot) nervous after all the information I've been reading about this surgery. Ugh...
  8. Good luck with your surgery. Mend quickly.
  9. Thank you. Think I should stop her coconut oil too?
  10. How many days, if any, should fish oil pills be stopped before surgery?
  11. Prayers for little Chrissie that she can heal quickly. These things are just so sad for everyone involved.
  12. Sending prayers for you and your sweet boy.
  13. Run with the angels sweet boy. Your last days here on earth were surrounded in love and you left this world gently, after finding the forever home you were always meant to be in. So very sorry for such a short time of love to give your beautiful boy.
  14. He's only been there a couple of months and that's a pretty short time. Right now his crate in it's initial place is still giving him security - it was his 'place' right from the start, his safe area. Give him some more time and then try it again. As he settles in and gets more secure with the comings and goings of the household, he'll probably accept it being moved to another room. Put a bed for him in the reading room and see if he'll just come in on his own while your in there and lay down by you - kind of let him get a comfortable feeling about being in there, then I'd try it again.
  15. Frannie does that whenever I leave the house and Mike is here with her. Normally, I'm here pretty much of the time and when I do leave for a while, she's crated. If he's home from work or on the weekend she stays out. He says she jumps up and runs at every noise until I get home. I'm her 'person' because I've been the one that's always been home with her most of the time. She loves Mike but it's just different being with him than with me all day long. If you were gone more the boys would probably get more used to it and it wouldn't bother them so much. These dogs are so routine oriented that any kind of change upsets their world. Travel more!!!
  16. Definitely let him have his crate - boy, if you only knew how lucky you are that he loves his crate space - some of us that have gone through horrible SA are pretty envious!!
  17. You did everything you possibly could for your beautiful boy. You kept him happy and loving life until you knew it was time to let him go. Even though you weren't the one that held him in his last minutes, you were there and that's all that counts. He left this world with your loving presence, the sweet dad that always tried to do everything he could to make his world the most wonderful place that he'd ever been in. So very, very sorry for you. You tried so hard to make him well... He'll remain at your side always. Bless you for your love of greyhounds.
  18. I switched from Petzlife to Denta Sure about a month ago because of the alcohol too. She's had horrible teeth since we got her 3 years ago and just had another dental three weeks ago so I'm still in the initial stages of how it's going to work in the long run. Petzlife has actually worked the best for all of our dogs but the alcohol content was what I started to worry about.
  19. Sending you all my best wishes for your boy Kari. You and him have been through so much....
  20. I'm so sorry to hear about Python's mets Jeni. You have been through so much and have tried so hard to get her healed. My hope is that you'll have much more time with your sweet little girl. Make every day a special day and enjoy all the love that she brings you. You're a good mama.
  21. Your pretty little girl is right by your side, even though you can't see her, she's there trying to help her mama cope with her sadness. She'll be your guardian angel forever. A sweet little one that didn't stay long but gave love and got love for a short time and left everyone that knew her with some wonderful memories. Your heart will gradually heal. We humans are blessed with big hearts - we have to be to keep loving and losing these beautiful friends of ours.
  22. Sweet little girl... Rest in peace sweetheart. Yet another beautiful star to light up the night sky. So very sorry for you.
  23. Cute little bugger! Hope all is well for Dash from now on.
  24. If he had a grand mal, it's normal for them to be blind for a while during the post ictal stage. Running, bumping into things and generally just disoriented for a while after.
