  1. When Ruby's SA is going she is turning around and around in the crate, drooling, shaking, turning some more. I'd say your guy looks warm and peaceful.
  2. When you give chicken backs, legs, etc., Do you take off the skin first ?
  3. Sending positive thoughts for quick healing.

Geez I get tired of reading about all the wonderful pups that had to go. It breaks my heart. I am so sorry !
  5. OH........poor baby. That looks so miserable. Hope they get some answers soon.
  6. What an amazing tribute to your much loved pup. I am so sorry.
  7. I have no advice for you at all but just want to say that I don't blame you a bit for being angry. I would HATE to come home to a mess day after day. In fact, unless my dog was sick, don't think I could do it. Hope the crate gives you a break until you find a solution.
  8. Awww, what a beautiful girl. I am so sorry.
  9. I actually feed the kibble dry in the morning and wet it and give a spoonful of yogurt in the evening. She seems to love it both ways.
  10. Usually she gets a chicken back 2 times a week and a turkey neck, cut in half and frozen, once a week. I rarely give her milkbone type treats. What is strange is her gums do not look inflamed or red. I use a soft toothbrush that I soak in warm water and use enzymatic toothpaste especially for dogs. I have wondered about using that spray (name isn't coming to me) on the days I don't brush.
  11. Ruby is 4. More bleeding last night. Not sure what is going on. The bleeding is on both sides too, otherwise I would think she had something stuck in her gums.
  12. I don't know anything about the DE but please be careful about using "bedbug" sprays. I just read an article about some of it poisoning people. Good luck with getting rid of them and I hope you find a good solution.
  13. I have been brushing Ruby's teeth since we got her and her teeth look beautiful. She also gets turkey necks, chicken backs and an occasional crunchy treat. I brush her teeth about 4-5 times a week and the last few days have noticed that her teeth are bloody after brushing. I haven't changed toothpaste or anything so I am worried. She has had recent blood work so I know she does not have any issues there. Any ideas as to what is going on ?
  14. You are an amazing woman and that is one blessed dog. Prayers for you and Ava.
  15. ThanksJillysFullHouse. Sounds like the exact same signs for humans (except for the panting part). Since it has been over 90 we have been putting her in the kennel for the hour overlap we both have to be gone. Don't want to risk anything. Appreciate the information.
  16. It has been so hot here lately that it got me to wondering about heatstroke in greys. Ruby is only outside about an hour and has lots of shade, cold water and a fan when it gets over 75, but sometimes when I come home, she is laying in the middle of the lawn sunning herself in the heat. She seems fine but I am just wondering what the signs would be if she did get heatstroke? She comes in and isn't panting or lethargic or anything. Just wondering.
  17. Oh wow...........Been there. Ruby has severe SA too and we tried all kinds of medications and tranquilizers with not much help. What has been working for us is leaving her in the back fenced yard. I don't know what we will do when winter hits again and I can't leave her outdoors. Good luck to you. I hope you find a good solution for Zero. It is so stressful for all involved.
  18. I put a spoonful of plain stuffed with probiotics yogurt on Ruby's dinner each night. She LOVES it and her gas is gone, poo looks great and her coat is shiny. A lot cheaper than the stuff at the vets too. I put it on the kibble and then put some warm water over it and stir. I also do it because my girl doesn't drink water at all, so I think it makes it tastier for her.
  19. I can tell how much you loved your special girl. I am sorry for your loss.
  20. Yep...........I do leave her outside when we both have to be gone. Both my vet and I decided that that would be better than leaving her with the run of the house to go crazy in (read that chewing up the walls, etc.) or putting her in her crate and having her bend all the bars while away. She has a beautiful fenced in backyard with a big old soft bed, a giant bucket of fresh water every day, an antler or two to chew on and a shaded porch. Been doing this for a few months and her SA has improved and we were able to stop all meds. She only whines when we are here according to the neighbors who say they NEVER hear her when we are gone. She is not outside in the dead of heat for hours and hours. She is out there about an hour or two while I am at work and my husband has to leave for work. Our jobs overlap. It's not like I am leaving a toddler alone outside to drown or die of heat exhaustion. When the temp reaches 80 and above, we even plug a big fan in on the porch for her.
  21. Please don't get me wrong. I would NEVER allow the grandbabies to be alone with Ruby. My grandson is never alone with her either but they have formed a bond from day one. I was told Ruby was raised around small children and that is one reason we chose her. He is allowed to lay on her bed but ONLY when Ruby is awake. He usually lays next to her bed on his blanket and Ruby squirms her way onto his bed........lol. They do however nap together at times but I am sitting right next to them. He is very very gentle with her and knows not to play rough with her, touch her when she is sleeping or take food from her. She doesn't guard food in any way though. My older granddaughter (who is rowdier)is more cautious with Ruby and they don't really interact except maybe to play fetch occasionally. I am happy to hear the snapping is a form of excitement and I have never seen the hackles or drooling, etc. Ruby is always allowed inside and doesn't have to stand and whine to come in. My point was, this is a new behavior. She has never done this before and the constant whining is annoying. I do ignore her until she stops and then let her in right away. Of course I want her to let me know when she needs to go out or come back in but she used to just head to the door. The whining is new.
  22. My sweet girl Ruby has been doing all sorts of weird things lately. I have her off all her meds and her behavior has been greatly improved since doing so. Also have been able to leave her outside when I have to be gone so that has helped her SA. The last 2 weeks she has started digging holes under the trees to lay in the dirt. Not sure why since she has a nice shaded area with a comfy bed to lay in that she normally likes. She also has started whining constantly. If she goes out to pee she immediately comes to the back door and whines. When we leave or return she is whining at the fence. It is LOUD and annoying. I don't let her in when she is doing this because I don't want to reward her bad behavior. The worst thing though is she is snapping when my grandbabies come over. This is the same girl who adores my 3 and 5 year old and always has. The addition of the 2 new babies seems to distress her when they visit. She lays on her bed and stares at them and I have seen her twice snap at the air and seem overly excited (angry?) when they are here. I have never seen any aggressive behavior at all from her. My grandson (3) has always laid with her, taken his naps beside her, etc. Never ever seen a bit of a problem until the new babies. They are not crawling so they are not bothering her in any way. I am really worried about this since she cannot be acting crazy around them. It can't happen. Any ideas as to what could be going on? She has had recent labs done and all was normal, including her thyroid and UA.
