Wow........that is NOT a friend. You are doing what feels right to you for something that you love. Friends accept our decisions and offer us comfort and a soft place to fall when we need it. Others criticize us and make us feel bad. Evaluate your "friendship" with this person and give your pup another hug. You are doing the right thing.

We have been dealing with escalating anxiety issues with Ruby for quite a while now. She had been doing a bit better since she can spend more time outside when we need to leave her, which she loves. Lately though, with her running away and then the fireworks, she is back to her panting trembling self. It has been so hard to watch the last few days. Tomorrow I am going to call the vet and ask for some kind of anxiety med and try this again. She is suffering. The last 2 nights I have given her 1.5 mg of Xanax which did nothing. Tonight, since it will be so noisy, I am going to give her the last 2 25mg Acepromazine pills I have left. We have also tried Clomipramide, Xanax, Melatonin, DAP, all the OTC stuff we could find and one other RX that I cannot remember the name of. I am going to call the vet tomorrow and see if I can get something else that is fast acting to get her through the next couple of noisy weeks. Any ideas ?

Ruby is acting strangely this morning. She didn't want to go out to potty last night and this morning, I had to drag her out of the bedroom and force her out to pee and eat. She is walking fine with no limping but seems very hesitant about the outdoors. I know the fireworks are not helping any but there are none this morning. She did just wolf down her breakfast. I think she is just tired and maybe a little confused.

I am still in shock my girl is laying beside me right now. My heart has been racing all day and I cannot relax. She of course is exhausted and has been sound asleep since we got home. I love my Ruby !

RUBY is HOME !!!!! I got a call about an hour ago from the police who gave me a ladies phone number and said they had found Ruby. I immediately drove over and there was my baby, wagging her tail and very very tired. She was over 9 miles away !!! They found her this afternoon and posted her on Craigslist and Facebook. They finally called the police who knew we were looking for her. She seems to be in good condition and the pads on her feet look good. She is exhausted and sleeping soundly beside me. My heart is still racing and I cannot believe my good luck in this awful situation. My husband was going to take her for a walk and had left the garage door open, she saw a cat and bolted. I have told him a MILLION times she will run and he needs to be more careful. I think he gets it now and she did not get the cat. Please kiss your doggies for me tonight and count your blessings they are home safe with you. I know I am.

I have no advice just sending good thoughts your way. I have a SA dog too that I have been working with for over a year now and she continues to get worse. We may have to return her too. I sure hope not but I feel your pain.

I brush Ruby's teeth about 3 times a week and use Petzlife the other days. She hates it but tolerates it.
