  1. What a shock. You must be reeling. My deepest sympathy to you & Godspeed to Tank.
  2. I used to just cut the "pants" right off my fluff dog, & trim her tail down real short. This is much cuter. Hope the big D is under control by now.
  3. Is she actually squatting to pee? Or is she just leaking when laying down. If it's leakage, that's a whole nother barrel of monkeys.
  4. I'm voting urinary tract infection, too. My vet likes to check first of morning urine.
  5. Toni: Desi always has the big d after any kind of sedation/anes. He got a little Domitor yesterday to cut off a broken nail, & sure enough, had "pudding poo" last night & this morning. I'm betting it'll clear up on its own. Hope so, anyway. Here's hoping it's that simple. Kathy
  6. I'm SO sorry. My best wishes & hopes for the best come to you & Patton. Don't skimp on the Tramadol. Dole it out as needed!
  7. My deepest sympathy for your loss. I'm sure Red will save your seat in heaven. Run free & proud big handsome.
  8. I remember summer of 2008, I had both knees replaced. Had so many meds for pain it was ridiculous, but still hurt so bad I felt like begging someone to just shoot me & put me out of my misery. 3 months later, I was mowing the grass & wondering why I'd waited so long to get it done. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Nothing worse than watching one of your furkids hurt so badly & there is nothing you can do for them. Sending prayers your way.
  9. Ceasar's ways are just like anything else. Works for some, not for others. I've always enjoyed his shows, just to see the dogs & their owners. Until I took home a shepherd mix that had been hit by a truck & abandoned at the vet clinic where I work. His pelvis was broken in 5 places & he had one front leg shattered. Needless to say, he was a needy little thing (65lb) until about 6 months later when all was healed & he came into his true bullheaded personality. Without using Ceasar's techniques, I would have been lost. The turning point was when he pulled me over on an icy sidewalk & drug me nearly a block before I could get enough traction to get him stopped. From then on, it was Ceasar's way, and it worked miracles. He was always a handful, & I had to keep a close eye on his body language when we were out for walks, but the love he showed me & the two times he stood between me & possible disaster, made him a dog I will never forget. I am now "into" greyhounds and I would not dream of using Ceasar's ways on any I have known. I say it's not the breed, it's the personality that dictates the training tools.
  10. I'm voting for the bedtime snack. My last grey had stomach upsets constantly until I finally figured out that if I gave him small meals more frequently, he was fine. Something about a totally empty tummy just must feel icky. The grey I have now makes it through the night, but he's pretty grumpy in the morning until breakfast arrives.
  11. OMG...too far away to be of any help but to send prayers your way. Let us know. We'll all be thinking of you.
  12. Me too. I also am drawn to the old grey-faced guys. Dont' know why, don't care, just that it is so. Something about that grey face just begs to be loved and KEPT (not shuffled around) Finances are such a problem. I'm only allowed (by my bank account) to have 2 at a time. If you pursue your dream, I wish you only the best. There must be a special place in heaven for such as you.
  13. This too shall pass. Hope is's sooner than later.
  14. My DesiRay is 7 yrs old & 85 lbs. He takes 2 Tramadol every 12 hours.....it made him pretty gorked for a while at first, but now the only way I can tell I haven't forgotten to give it to him is if he's gimpy or not. I used to take Tramadol myself for my knees & it didn't sedate me.....made me want to go out & mow grass, just because the pain was less & I could. I agree it affects everyone differently.
  15. Do the dental....I work for a vet & we're very careful to take into account age, breed, bloodwork, etc. before deciding what kind of anes & pre-med to use. It's well worth the worry before. We all worry, but an icky mouth can cause many other problems.
  16. I agree with Sheila......I use Frontline....have ocassionally found one or two, usually they're staggering around in the process of going to meet their maker. (I think he's the only one that would take them)
  17. I had both knees replaced 2 years ago. I always thought that arthritis & bone problems were worse in cold weather, but my knees ALWAYS gave me fits when it was hot & humid. Barometric pressure sounds perfectly logical to me.
  18. I vote no to the rawhides. I work for a vet, & have seen too many kids come in with a big chunk causing a blockage. "But they didn't swallow the whole thing" the parents always say. But as it turns out, they slobbered & chewed on it until they got a big hunk undone, & that was what got swallowed whole & caused all the problems. Just my opinion....I avoid rawhide like the plague.
  19. And I'll just bet it wasn't very hard at all for him to "convince" you to shell out the cream cheese. Hope he just continues to improve every day & if cream cheese will help, I'll send him a case.
  20. Mine, too. I'm in Ohio & it's been hot. That was one thing that worried me when I adopted. He raced in Florida....I thought he'd be used to the heat. But not. He'll go a couple of blocks eagerly, then it's down to a dead plod, & I have to coax him along to get back to the house. It takes him a lot longer to cool down than my beagle/lab mix, too. I was even afraid of heart problem, thinking it was total exercise intolerance. But we've learned to deal. After 5 months, I've figured out what he can take & when to get him the heck back in the a/c.
  21. Yea Joe!!!! How could you refuse that man steak & liver? He deserves every bite.
  22. Maybe it's still in his stomach.....maybe he'll yack it up. A friend's dog ate the plastic wrapper from a Wendy's fork & napkin kit....stayed in there for 3 weeks...one day out of the clear blue....up it came. Then again, maybe he just hid it, just to give you something to worry about.
  23. Thank goodness!!!!! Joe is HOME!!!!! You'll both be so much happier, just being together. Here's hoping for blue skies & long remission. FWIW, Skeeter is terrified of storms, too. Half a Xanax (no, not mine....we get them 5 at a time (once a year or so) from the vet) works wonders.
  24. When Desi ate my brand new slippers (no, they didn't smell like feet....I hadn't even gotten a chance to wear them yet) it was 24 hours "end to end" I just thank goodness it found the other "end"
  25. AMEN!! Jane will SURELY cave. I know I would! All joking aside, Jane, you must feel like you're in a tunnel, but there's a light at the end!!! Hang in there. All these prayers & good wishes must certainly work.
