  1. Welcome to the world of greyhounds!!! ....where chattering for many of us is such a happy sight!!! Our EZ is a master-chatterer. JJ, occasionally....and little Dustin seems to be figuring it out himself. I think the young boys are learning from that sweet Senior of ours!!!

  2. Yes, I'm tired but still not going to put her down cause I'm tired. She had a bad day yesterday but seems better today. I will let the vet look at her and advise me what to do. Giving up my dog after 10yrs to a stranger is NEVER something I would do. No one likes cleaning poop and pee up and off a dog 3-4 times a day. She is expened not crated. Sorry I just call it a crate. She has plenty of room to get away from it so not sure why it's all over her. She made it all night without any accidents so we are hoping for none all day. I only work part time so she's only alone for maybe 4 hours tops. Gotta run. Heading to give her a nice hot bath so she doesn't stinky and to make her feel better. She's our old girl and we love her to pieces. Would never do anything to hurt her.

Would be interesting to web cam. It almost sounds like she is falling into it when she has the accident.....

  3. The irony of this is that as I was reading about his personality, I was thinking of my JJ....and then I read that Rocko had a connection to Dancer.....who looks like an older version of JJ.....

Good luck with that big loving boy.....I always say that there is NOTHING that JJ doesn't take on with gusto!

  4. I'm so sorry for your less. I love that picture on his custom bed with his kitty cat.

So ironic that he was almost with you all those years ago, yet ended up with you in his final months here......Clearly, somehow, somewhere, he was meant to touch your life....and you, his.

  5. Welcome from down the road in Rhode Island! Your baby is a grandson of Jimbo Scotty? My JJ is a Jimbo Scotty baby. Interesting, it looks like Manley has that little "J" hook in his tail that so many of the Jimbo Scotty babies seem to have!

Congratulations and best of luck with your boy!

  6. My dogs are alone during the day while I work...it's not a problem.

You mentioned dog parks...some greys do awesome at them. Just be aware that the park does not allow small breeds to play with large breeds. We had a grey in RI that grabbed a little white fluffy dog and killed it....Treated it like a toy.... It was a horrible situation for the little dog - and ultimately the grey.

Also, if the dog is even the slightest bit spooky (and the adoption group should know that), you might want to walk with a harness. I use a martingale harness and collar on mine when we walk - as the collar gives you control, but the harness protects them if they manage to wiggle those narrow heads out of the collar.

Your lifestyle/apartment and quiet home may make a wonderful environment for a quiet, more mature hound. I definately see the difference in the ones that I have gotten at two or three years vs. the five year olds.

Also, I'm not sure that I agree that the racing ones are more difficult. Our most laid-back and easy going one is also the one that was the most successful at the track!

    Good luck!

  7. I'm so glad to hear that you are looking to adopt again. As I said in my earlier post, the emptiness in my house was beyond what I could live with. Initially, when I talked to people, I said that I felt like I wasn't honoring Jack by adopting right away....but as my dearest friend pointed out, waiting would not bring Jack back - and would only prolong my hurt (something Jack would never have wanted)....and why not open my home to another hound who needs a forever place.... So out I went and brought home the two boyz.....

Also, so many of us understand about getting the ashes home. I felt a bit of peace providing Jack with his final resting place right beside my bed.

Please keep us apprised of your search for another hound......There is an introductory thread and a few others where we all look and would be thrilled to see that you have honored Mighty's memory - and all the things he taught you about hounds - by bringing a new one into your life.
