  1. Laura I have to say, it did take me a minute to find it on the map!
  2. I called to adjust our reservation by a day and we are in cabin 87 - time to share the good, bad & ugly
  3. Nice Love hearing these stories. Bella's doing pretty well, doing zoomies and such and is perfectly content to snooze alone, too. Sounds like there are plenty of ways that we can all hang out but options for DH or I to take the boy elsewhere to blow off steam. Or leave the girls for a bit and go for a hike, for example.
  4. Thanks Jen. Hadn't even thought about winery policies.
  5. Two questions that I would really like brutally honest answers to. (1) Thoughts on kids. We have a 4 y.o. boy who likes being on the move anytime he can. I'm a little concerned that trying to manage him with so many dogs around, some of whom may be bothered/excited by him running and playing when space is available. (2) Bella is 13 and is starting to resemble a German Shepherd in her back end (getting weaker). We certainly can bring things for her to lie on, but.... Wondering if we should skip and come next year sans child. Thanks
  6. Looks like the above is a duplicate post - see the other here: http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php/topic/323115-advice-on-biting-greyhound/
  7. Sorry, I know this is tough. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in but with the wrapper example, that's a great time to use the "trade up" process - offer him something higher in value to him than what he currently has. I wouldn't have thought the grass would be a problem, either, so I would have made the same mistake but I guess in future use a muzzle. Keep us posted - I look forward to what others have to say.
  8. Ooh, I want to know what cabin we are in - we booked a while ago but don't know which cabin yet.

Oh, Pam, this is inadequate but I am so very sorry
  12. I'm still curious about the nightstand thread
  13. Our first girl had bad sleep startle when she was a bit younger but has grown out of it. Perfectly timed - she seemed to grow out of it as soon as our son was born. Coincidence? No idea. You learn to deal with it, same with any other quirk. Best of luck in finding your new family member!
  14. When I lived in Manhattan, we regularly took Bella on the train when we visited my parents. One of us would either stand with her in an area for wheelchairs that wasn't used (so that we weren't blocking seats) or in the vestible opposite the doors that were actually opening. Never had a problem. Sometimes she would stand the whole way but she was fine. Eventually she got so that she would lie down on a blanket.
  15. Susan, you and I will always disagree about having greyhounds in homes with young children - we have two greys and a 4 year old child and no issues. We had one grey that was not compatible with our family and so we returned him - he was happily rehomed two weeks later to a child-free home and is much happier. Having children is NOT a reason to return a dog. Having a dog who cannot live with the noise and unpredictability IS a reason. I strongly agree with MaryJane that your daughter should not be in the position of pushing the dog away from her food. Agree that the dog was likely startled and feeling perhaps a little territorial about the bed - it's the dog's space. Some dogs are much more forgiving about this kind of thing than others - both of ours are, the hound we rehomed absolutely was not. We returned him after he showed that being around a young child was making him uncomfortable but before there was a more serious incident that limited his options. Would definitely talk to your group about options. You may not want to return him but it might be kinder before there is a more serious incident that leaves him with nowhere to go. And please listen to Greysmom - This is way beyond the ability of anyone to help very much on the internet.
  16. Our two girls have now lived together since May 2017. They get along great - Bella doesn't play and I think Gracie wishes she would but there are no snarks over food, space, etc and Bella has perked up significantly since Gracie came to live with us. The only thing I find strange is that they are always sniffing each others' butts! This just strikes me as a little odd - I get why dogs do it when the first meet each other, but these two live together.
